You take off and rush with all your might to scoop Max up at the absolute last second, and fall to the ground with both of you on your sides.
He's barely had time to process what's happened, panic still in his eyes as he hears the loud crash followed by a tree knocking over.
"Holy shit." He mouths out, and although he's awful frightened — he reaches out with his hand as you sit up, trying to feel that your abdomen is unharmed from the sudden movements.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." You insist, rubbing a hand along your belly in return. "But you weren't. You would've become flat Stanley if it weren't for me."
He feels a sense of guilt, knowing what you've risked just to get him out of harms way.
"Thank you." He zips up his bag, with no time to waste as he's needed back in the building.
"As long as you're okay."
"I'm fine, it's you I'm worried about. You have to be careful."

"Jake- Jake there are too many." Trudy calls out as she's ducking in and out between trees. "I'm being over run. I'm on foot, and I'm running out of trees to hide behind. I can't get to my scorpion or norms troop from here.
I need to get out of here, do you copy?"
"I hear you. I'll send Tsu'tey — have him get you out. Just hold on."
"I'm doing my best here, Jake." She insists between taking her chances at long-range head shots as the few men who make it out of the field have followed her driving path here. "I can't promise anything."
Just after Jake calls for the order, hes forced to side swipe as another larger scorpion narrowly gets him in the back. He's safe being in the field, but it can only do so much considering their eyes still work.
Aside from being frustrated that Norm isn't answering, he's worried that you haven't said any new updates.
Jake takes a reasonable second to breathe, and then calls for you. "Baby. Do you read me? Are you okay? I could use some help."
"I'm fine, I'm keeping out of the way and making sure our drivers get to their links safely." He doesn't like the sound of gunshots in the background, but it's expected. "—What's going on?"
"Trudy's being over run. I need you to try to get to her — grab your Ikran and get the hell out of there. The rest are coming in your direction."
"Ka'ani." You turn to face him and your other students, forever thankful they came to find you once available. "Can you take over escorting the other drivers? I'm needed."
"As you wish." He bows, and presumably quickly shoots another arrow directly behind you as it stabs into a mechs heart.
"—I've got this."
You shortly bow before calling out to Arohk, and it doesn't take too long to track Trudy down.
She's huddled under a tree, clinging to her gun like it's her life — which, it is in this moment.
You call out to her, and reach over to pull her on before you take off again. It seems all too easy.
Tsu'tey shows, and realizes he's later than intended as his enemies kept him from grabbing her sooner. He decides to follow along - figuring you and Trudy need protection the most right now as you fly out further to rendezvous with Jake.
You feel the way she adjusts behind you, and slips her fingers under the hip strings of your cloth as she has to hold on.
"Please tell me you've heard from someone that we've got Parker or Q by now."
"I'm sorry, I haven't yet." You turn back to check on her, knowing it isn't easy to hold on with your rather protruding belly. "—There's no sign of them. Jake thinks they're waiting til last minute to show, after weakening us."
"It's fucking bullshit, is what that is." Trudy expresses, annoyed by the way they take the easy route out.
"He's such a god damn coward."
Speaking of, you both cower as Tsu'tey ever so gracefully knocks down a mech who approaches from below, and narrowly escape his bullets.
"Where are we going?" Trudy asks. "I thought Jake was out East."
"He was, but he's heading west to meet up with Norm." You have to shout over the latest explosion. "—They're trying to get a location on Quaritch, he's gotta be here somewhere."
"You should drop me at my scorpion and take off with Tsu'tey, you can get there faster." She offers.
"Like hell I'm doing that! Not with these crowds. You're staying here. You can snag another scorpion at the Olangi camp ground, I'll drop you off where the assholes aren't coming in. We've got a few out there you can pick from."
