Chapter Six : Grow some balls

Two years ago, the country Yūei was split into two: the North and the Soufh. One side supported the ideals of a very sick man, commonly known as All For One, whereas the other wanted the man to rot in Hell.

For years All For One had been making the the front pages of newspapers for his bold political opinions. He was a misogynist and a racist. He believed that women had no meaning, and that they should be publicly reduced to nothing but housekeeps and child bearers. He supported the blatant disrespect shown towards people who weren't native to the country—people who were immigrants. He believed that Yūei's blood should stay pure and that everyone else should die.

Two years ago, All For One started speaking out being President. If the current President wasn't going to make the necessary changes to keep Yūei pure, then he would do it himself. In the middle of January, the first month of the year, President Nezu was assassinated by a man named Tomura Shigaraki. There were eye-witnesses to the attack, but Tomura still wasn't caught. After the death of one of Yūei's finest leaders, the country was launched into war.

Every man over the age of 16 and under the age of 50 was forced to aid the North unless they were in a Southern state, or unless they had a health condition.

When the time came for the man of Mighty River to leave for the war, no one was all that sad. They were all proud of their boys and happy to see them help the country. It wasn't until a few months went by and some people didn't get any letters back that the town fell into a depression. Families often waited by the post office or at the train station with hopes of receiving an indication that their loved one was safe.

For two years the town of Mighty River struggled with the loss of more than half of their population. Due to the fact that all of the capable men were gone, women and the elderly had to pick up slack and try their best to keep the town afloat. It's honestly a surprise that the town is still standing.

While the women and the elderly of Mighty River were struggling, the men from the small western town were on the brink of insanity in the East. It felt as though they were fighting barbarians. The Southern soldiers fought with no mercy and no respect. They were all over the place. The Generals often let them do as they pleased. Most fights lasted ages, only ending when someone either put up the white flag and fled or when a force was completely wiped out.

Not even half of Mighty River's men survived.

It was the last battle that completely wiped out the Northern forces, but somehow they still won. The South surrendered when word of All For One's "suicide" circulated around the country. With no leader, the Southern forces weren't fighting for anyone. So they gave up. When their surrender was made public, everyone was allowed to return home.

Izuku isn't quite sure how he survived the war, making it out with just a broken leg and some bruised ribs. He isn't all that coordinated when it comes to fighting and he often spent a majority of the battle unconscious on the ground. Maybe it was dumb luck, or maybe it was because he was being protected by God. Either way, he's thankful that he survived because now, he's back home. He's back home in his home town with the woman he aimed to marry.

"Excuse me ladies." Izuku mutters beneath his breath as he pulls open the large door, earning a few hasty screams from the hens trying to lay eggs. The door practically flies off of the hinges when he opens it. Izuku cringes. "Right... Okay then!"

He hobbles over to the box of hardware he brought out from the shack and kneels down to start digging through it. The door just needs a new latch, so a few new screws is all he needs. Izuku finds everything but screws in the box. He finds hammers and wrenches, nuts and bolts and even rope. But no screws.
