She found out his full name was Virgil van Dijk and that he had a match the following day, against Manchester United.
Abigail also found out that he was center-back, and he was widely considered one of the best in the world.
The girl decided to open up her Instagram and search for the footballer, pressing the first account that popped up under 'virgil van dijk'.
She studied the account for a few minutes, clicking through the highlights and scrolling through the posts, eventually deciding to click follow.
She didn't expect much of it, he had over fourteen million followers after all. He probably wouldn't even have noticed the follow, or recognized who she was.
Setting her phone down, she decided to turn her attention back to the store, just in time for another customer to walk in.

He had clicked on an account that just followed him under the name 'Abigail Davies' to make sure he wasn't dreaming, and he wasn't.
