Nasir POV

"You okay Bae?" Naomi asked as we rode on the way to the cookout.

"Yea I'm straight." I half lied, I wasn't tripping but me and my family never really was super close. They were definitely odd at some times so I just didn't want them being weird to Nae.

"It's gonna be fine, don't worry." She said flashing a warm smile. I returned the smile back, that's the one thing I love about her, how positive she was.

We pulled onto my grandma's street seeing the whole block full of cars making me loudly sigh. Niggas said a small cookout not a family reunion.

"You look so handsome." Naomi said as we parked. I smiled looking over at her, she had a pink skims set on paired with her foam runners, and a small pink Chanel bag that I of course paid for.

"Might get you fucked later." She mumbled making me mug her

"Stop saying that shit." I retorted and she just laughed getting out of the car. I looked around seeing kids playing, adults arguing and playing cards.

"Come on ma." I said grabbing her hand, leading us to the house. I walked in and the smell of food instantly hit my nose. As we walked in a few family members greeted me, I just nodded my head making my way to the kitchen.

"Hey grandma." I spoke causing her to look up and her eyes widened. Instantly approaching me bringing me into a hug.

"Oh my Nasir it's so good to see you." She said rocking us back and forth

"I didn't think you'd show." She said looking at me in awe.

"And who is this beauty?" She asked stepping aside looking at Naomi. Naomi smiled and waved.

"This Naomi, my girl." I said introducing her.

"Hi, nice to meet y'all." She said flashing a friendly smile.

"Oh girl come here, we hug over here." She said pulling Naomi into a hug. We went over and sat down at the table because she wanted to talk some more.

"So how long have you two been together?"

"We've known eachother for about 3 months now."( I think) I said and she nodded.

"Oh so y'all still in the honeymoon stage, give it a couple of months yall a be fighting like cats and dogs." She said and I just laughed it off. I honestly didn't see our relationship turning super toxic, we have really good communication.

"Well we have a surprise for you later Nasir, it's a reallyyy big one." She said excitedly, making me furrow my eyebrows. What surprise ? These people barely know me.

We talked for a little while before she eventually got up and went to finish cooking.

"Bae my stomach is in my back, can we go make plates?" Naomi asked laying her head on my shoulder.

"Yea, come on ma." I said standing up leading her to the backyard.

Cool by Anthony Hamilton blasted on the speaker.
