Three days had passed on Dragonstone, Matilda had not realised it was possible to miss someone so much and the absence of Rhaella weighed on her heart. Their bond, formed since infancy, had never experienced such separation.

Matilda found her thoughts consumed by Rhaella, reminiscing about the countless hours they had spent together since their early childhood.

Rhaenyra, sensing her Matilda's sadness, devoted the initial days on Dragonstone to the companionship of the young silver-haired girl.

Matilda never found that prayer alleviated her stress, she often thought that peoples trust in the Gods, old or new, was misplaced. she did however find that Dragon Stone gave her solace; a sense of belonging. Perhaps, it was the magic which had been in elaborately woven into each grain of sand upon the beach, each stone placed on the castle's high walls.

Or perhaps it was the knowledge that here she was close to her ancestors ghosts for they had once wondered these halls, many moons ago.

The isle of Dragonstone unfolded its mysteries to Matilda, and her fondest moments were woven into the tapestry of exploration alongside Rhaenyra. From hidden chambers in the Sea Dragon Tower to the sprawling beaches touched by the magic of ancient sands, the two princesses ventured, forging bonds as unyielding as the castle walls. The rhythmic echoes of their laughter danced through the corridors, a testament to the maternal relationship Rhaenyra had cultivated with Matilda.

Her newest discover was the sea dragon tower. It was exactly as the names says, a tower shaped like a dragon which calmly gazed across the water. The maester's chambers were located high atop Sea Dragon Tower and outside of the chambers were intricately carved statues which Matilda had spent her time tracing with her fingers.

Rhaenyra had told her that Aeron's trusted warrior Visenya Targaryen had kept her chambers in the Sea Dragon Tower during the reign of King Ivan I - Matilda's ancestor.

However, the most important thing for matilda was that within the first week of residing in dragonstone, her egg had hatched.

It had been an overcast morning similar to every other morning, although the young girl much preferred this weather to the sweltering sun which often bore down on the red keep.

The girl had found her self tossing and turning all night from strange dreams; they were peculiar- and left her with more questions than answers. One restless night, Matilda found herself tossed into a world of dreams. Vivid and surreal, she rode atop one dragon with two magnificent dragons besides her—majestic creatures with wings that spanned the horizon. The air was a mosaic of colors as they soared high above, escaping the sorrowful land below. Each beat of the dragons' colossal wings echoed in the vastness, carrying her into an ethereal realm full of snow which she assumed was the north where joy and freedom intertwined."

When she awoke before the sun had risen she peeled off the covers carefully and pushed harshly at her heavy door- luckily it was another guard who had stood watch that night, a guard who had fallen asleep.

Carefully she allowed the door to shut before creeped down the steps and out to where the dragons resided, she made her way towards the fire pit which was always set ablaze.

It was there that she placed her dragon egg for the third time much like her ancestors had done before her. And it was there that her dragon had hatched. She assumed it was the magic of dragon stone which caused her dragon to hatch but either way she finally had a dragon.

As the overcast morning unfolded, Matilda carefully placed her dragon egg beside the fire pit for the third time, following the ancient ritual of her ancestors. The anticipation hung in the air until, suddenly, the egg cracked open. From within emerged a breathtaking creature—Maelora. Cloaked in sleek black scales with an iridescent cascade of purple, her emerald-green eyes bore a calm wisdom like the ancient trees of Dragonstone. Yet, within those eyes flickered an untamed fire, a deep hunger unyielding, promising a future of uncharted adventures.
