II. Healing her fiance

Shao Shang is in a hurry and the night has fallen fast. It's cold outside the Changqiu Palace, it starts to snow slightly. The young woman takes the box with medicine she has prepared for her fiancé. She is about to go but then decides to go pick up some blankets for Ling Buyi.

Earlier today because of her, Zisheng was severely punished by the emperor. She felt helpless watching him getting beaten, his flesh being torn. Her heart aches just thinking about it. She can't sleep, she needs to see if he is ok. If he is warm enough. These emotions are all new to her. Since she grew up fending for herself, she is not used to taking care of another being besides herself. But after today, she made a vow to herself to be good to Zisheng.

Shao Shang slowly walks toward the room Zisheng is sleeping into. It's the room he used to live in when he was a child. She is very careful not to be caught. She is holding the blanket over her head and holding her box with medicine into her arms. She is finally there in front of his door, so she quietly knocks on the door. His servant A'Fei opened the door. He looks surprised to see her there. He let her through.

She makes her way into Zisheng's room. He is on his side on his bed looking at her in both shock and wonder. She smiles at him. He says, "Why are you here?" with a soft voice. She goes to his bedside and stops him from getting up "Don't get up! It will tear your wound!" Shao Shang inspected his bedding. She knew it! Those blankets are way too thin! "I knew that your blankets were too thin! It's cold outside!"

Shao Shang noticed by the corner of her eyes that Ling Buyi sent his servant A'Fei away with a look. Her fiancé sits up in his bed and Shao Shang lifts her head. She's a few inches from Zisheng. They stare into each other's eyes for a few seconds. Before Shao Shang tells him "You should lie down!" She wants to push him down, but he grabs her right hand. Shao Shang heard him hiss in pain. "See, you are in pain. Do you want to make my heart ache even more!" She said to him slightly pouting. Zisheng smiles at her and tells her he feels blessed that her heart aches for him.

Shao Shang is touched by his words and lifts herself to kiss his forehead. They stare at each other for a while before Zisheng comes closer to her. She does the same, they kiss sweetly before they break away. Zisheng tries to get another one, but Shao Shang wants him to rest. She came into his bedroom first and foremost to heal him. Her fiancé looks a bit disappointed, but he doesn't press the matter on.

He let her nurse him. She first feeds him medicine and then plays the flute for him. Zisheng is used to taking care of his own injuries. He feels happy to have Shao Shang by his side taking care of him this time. His heart is full of love for her at this moment. They talk about the first time he saw her. Shao Shang asked him "How was it the first time you saw me?".

He looks at her his head on the side and says "That day, the sky was covered in lights because of the lanterns. You stopped in the street, and it was busy with people everywhere. I only saw you. Just one look, and I knew that for the rest of my life, you would be the only one."

"One look is not enough." She points out. He smiles at her and says, "It's enough."

"For now on, if you don't deceive me, I will be yours forever." She declares to him.

Her fiancé was always so dark and serious. But here with her, he was the sweetest thing. Shao Shang felt her heart swell with love for him. She can't help herself and kissed him. It's soft and gentle. Zisheng pulled her closer to him. His arms are hugging her waist gently. It's slow and tender. Shao Shang opened her mouth to let his tongue explore it.

Zisheng slowly explored it. He is tasting every part of Shao Shang's mouth. Shao Shang's arms are around his shoulder. She caresses his hair with her hands. His own hands are caressing her back. He gently pulls her down on the mattress. Never stopping the kiss. They finally break to take some air.
