Eventually you come to, rolling over and finding Jake is scrolling through his tablet as he waits for you to wake.
He smiles and places it down when he sees you're moving around and turning to face him.
A small 'Hi' mouthed in a cute greeting.
He takes his time waking you up further with delicate kisses - not wanting you to fall back as dinner is soon. Can't forget to feed this body as much as the other, or check in with the drivers about any updates they've spotted.
And after that, it's back to the Avatars.
Both of them waking where they were before as the eclipse sets in.
The scene beautiful as ever.
The bioluminescent flora and fauna come to life, creating a stunning atmosphere. The occasional chirps from surrounding animals is almost calming, knowing that while everything else seemed to change - the forest hadn't.
Even down to the little details glowing on your skin, and trickling all the way down to Jake's abdomen.
As you finally move to sit up and balance better with your tail, he takes it upon himself to sit in front of you and disconnect the queues for a better angle - with his knees on the ground, and palms flat in the dirt.
Face to face currently as he kisses the side of your temple, and moves to put one hand on your abdomen.
"Baby."
He speaks so softly.
"Are you ... sure?"
You place your hands on the sides of his face, and stare lovingly into his eyes.
"I am."
Probably the shortest and easiest answer to give at first.
"Unless you.. think it's.. all moving too fast?"
He reaches for one hand, his fingers clasping over yours.
"You know me, you know how I feel."
And pulls your hand away to kiss your palm, while moving in closer to kiss along your arm until he's back on your neck.
"My baby wants me to get her pregnant-" and he wraps his arms around your waist to pull you onto his lap.
"-I'll do it as much as she wants.
Twins, even."
"No, no." You place a hand on his forehead and try to jokingly shove away. "No twins, please, no. I've told you already. Absolutely not. You've always been so excited about them. We didn't have them the first time, I'm not doing it this time."
He smiles so beautifully as he looks up at you.
"It's a risk you take, having me as your sire."
"Absolutely not. The most I'll give you is what we had-" and your voice breaks unexpectedly, sort of killing your happier mood. "—...before."
He notices the look on your face as you sink down further into his hold, frowning... and he kisses at your jawline.
"You're not betraying them." He says, sincerely.
"I may never truly know if it was all real or not." You think out loud.
"As difficult as this is.. I... know I just... have to accept that uncertainty, and.. try not to let it hold me back."
He kisses at your temples as tears fall.
"Or.. keep me from making the most of this."
"And we will." He adds on at the end of your statement. "I promise. They won't hurt our family, our friends, Hometree- anything. We've already done a great damage taking out their dragon ship. It'll hold them off while we work on Toruk and getting more help."
He blinks slowly as he looks at you.
"You've helped more than you know, baby. Real or not, Eywa definitely gave you something. We're going to use it. All of it. She chose us and our friends for a reason.
We've got no set time on when they'll try to come, but we can do this."
He appreciates the way you smile, knowing these efforts haven't been in vain. It's obvious, but definitely helps to be reminded at times. It felt like a loss in the end, or like you were trading one set of family for another.
