Erase Your Fears

Chapter Three

Annie's eyelashes fluttered as she glanced at the boy sitting next to her.
He smiled brightly as they made eye contact.
"So, um... How are you?" She asked awkwardly.
Before she could say another word, Race leaned in and kissed her gently.
Shocked, Annie slowly closed her eyes as she melted into the kiss.
Lost in thought as Race pulled away from her, all Annie could do was smile.
"I, um- sorry..." Race muttered, looking down.
"No, don't be sorry. I- I liked that.." Annie smiled, looking at him.
He perked up and looked into her vibrant green eyes.
"You did?"
She nodded
Race smiled and reached for her small, delicate hand.
"You're really pretty." He said with a smile.
She pushed as she looked down at their hands, their fingers intertwined.
She looked back up at him, slowly leaned in and kissed him passionately.
Shocked, he kissed her back, with even more passion.
Not wanting to stop the kiss, but knowing she had to, Annie pulled back.
He just looked at her.
"Ann, can I ask ya somethin'?"
She nodded.
"Sure. But first, call me Raider. It's my newsie name." She said with a slight giggle.
Race laughed a little and took both of her hands.
"Well, Raider," he began
"Will you do me the honor of bein' my goilfriend?"
A bright smile spread across her face.
"Yes." She replied happily.
He smiled and hugged her a little.
"Do you want to head back to the lodgin' house now?" He asked, receiving a nod from her in return.
He stood up, extending his arm.
Annie took his hand, slowly standing up, and grabbing her crutch with the other hand, tucking it under her left arm.
"Thanks." She smiled.
"No problem."
Race began walking as Annie slowly staggered behind him.
About 15 minutes later, the appeared back at the lodging house.
Crutchie walked over, putting an arm around his sisters shoulders.
"There ya two are. We were about to send out a search party for ya." He aid playfully.
Everyone laughed a little.
Annie just smiled.
She had someone.
A boyfriend.
A protector.
A lover.
She couldn't be happier.
