Maru badly wants that, the kindness of you. You bring out the joy, the emotion, the conversation and much more out of Osamu. She wants to learn your trick, to be able to claim Osamu as hers. But she didn't have the heart to learn from the rejection.

She would never reject the love of her life.

What can she do to become like you?

Oh.... Bingo.

"(Y/N)," Maru called out as you analysed the notes about the team's strategies. You hummed in response, hadn't raised your eyes up to look at her. "Do you think there's a room for me to join as a manager?"

Those words stunned you, your hands halted halfway to flip the page. "Eh? Can you repeat it again?"

She chuckled softly before leaning to your ear, cupping her mouth and repeating the words she said. "Do you think there's a room for me to join as a manager?"

"Manager, why?" You asked. It's not that you declined her right away. Either way when people want to apply for a job, they need a valid reason for it before deciding whether it is suitable. Also, Osamu will say no to her anyways, no matter what.

Might as well just do something about it.

"Why? Because why not~" She hangs her arms on your shoulder, side hugging you like a buddy-buddy. "Aren't you looking for a manager to take your place?"

"Well yeah, but I'm looking for a first-year one, not like you, the same year as me."

"Hmm? Why not?"

"Because you and I will be graduating next year. So the manager's job is needed for a first-year student to handle."

Maru frowned in defeat. "Hai hai, then what can I do to approach Osamu?"

"Uhh... Is that the reason why you want to apply for the manager spot?" Hands gently clenched onto your notebook. A weird sort of feeling boiling up in your stomach.

"Obviously." She answered shortly.

'Right... Maru likes Osamu so much.' You mentally thought.

"I wish I could help you but..." Your eyes trails towards a figure, jersey number #11, grey hair, build body. Indeed you had mentioned it a lot of times about him in your head. Unexpectedly, you were met with his grey eyes. "I don't think Osamu would allow me to."

The silent gaze between you and Osamu assembled everything for the background to block. In other words, it felt like only the both of you were in the world. Even so, you had to break eye contact, because the gaze is getting stronger.

Then, a half cold hands clasping with yours. "(Y/N)... Could you at least give me some advice without him knowing?" You raised your eyebrows, confused because you're pretty sure your words were clear to understand. "I always wanted to be like you. Having a friend like him. As I tried my best to approach him, he would walk away."

Maru's head hung low, her blonde bangs covered her eyesight, forming black shadows. "He doesn't just do it to you only." You patted her shoulders, reassuring her. "He was that type of guy, full of bluntness."

"But he was so different to you." She was about to whine. "Like, what did you do that made him interested in you? You're so lucky, ya'know? I envy you so much, (Y/N)."

"It-it was his choice to be honest. You know that I don't want to be his friend in the first place, right?" She nodded, an anime tear was forming at the corner of her eyes. "But he came and wouldn't stop bothering me. So boom, here we are, best friend."

That's true. Your friendship with Osamu was like magic. Osamu wasn't the type to show affection either towards his friends or even his brother, maybe his family too. Therefore, you're the only person who he showed affection to.
