Ricky's pov:
"Hey man, you auditioning for the musical tomorrow?" Ej asked.
"Yeah obvi!" I exclaimed.
"Kk cya!" Ej said.
"Byee!" I replied.

I walked home along, listening to Get your head in the game.

"Hey dad!" I yelled as I opened the door.
"Dad?" I called out again.

Then I spotted him on the couch, with an empty beer bottle in his hand. I sighed, and started picking up the trash he had left on the floor. Then I covered him with a blanket.
My dad has been like this since the divorce. Sometimes it feels like I'm taking care of him instead of the other way around, but I'm fine with it. I just hate seeing him like this.
After a while, I got a text from Ej.

"Hey, wanna come to my place to practice for our audition?"
"Sure, be there in a few." I replied.

I left a note for my dad telling him I'll be at Ej's then headed out.

"Hey Elton!" I greeted him.
"If you call me that ever again I will-" He said sternly.
"Will what?" I interrupted jokingly.
"I hate you." He muttered.
"You love me." I said.
"Whatever. What song are you going to sing for the audition?" He asked.
"Get your head in the game. What about you?" I replied.
"I dunno I'm deciding between Bet on it and Breaking Free." He said.
"Ok I can help you decide. Just sing both for me." I told him.
"Ok." He said.
"Definitely Breaking Free, you nailed that!" I told him after he finished.
"Ok thanks," he replied, "your turn now. Show me whatcha got."

I sang the song then practiced a small part in the script.

"You're definitely ready." Ej told me.
"Haha thanks you too." I replied.
"K cya tomorrow!" He said.
"Cya!" I replied.

I couldn't wait till the auditions tomorrow.
