Chapter 1

Nini's pov:
I walked into school. Another day of feeling like I don't belong. I faked I smile and went to my locker.

"Hi!" I said to my friends.

Of course they didn't hear it. They were too busy discussing books. I ignored it and opened my locker. I took out my books and headed to homeroom. I sat down and started writing.

Everyday I walk through the same halls,
Feeling like I don't belong.
I try too hard in school,
I'm the girl who's always taken for the fool.
I'm try too hard to look good,
For stupid guys who aren't even matured.
My life's a mess, but I'm working on it,
I'm smiling but I feel like shit.

I looked over what I just wrote, then crumpled up the paper and threw it in the trash. I sighed, nothing I write these days are any good.

"Hey Nini! When did you get here?" My friends greeted me.
"Oh just a few minutes ago." I replied.
"Ah ok." Ally said.

Then they continued to talk.

"Auditions for this year's east high and north high musical are tomorrow in the auditorium! We will be doing high school musical!" I heard from the announcement.

Did I hear that right? High school musical is my favourite musical of all time! It has always been my dream to play Gabriella. Of course it has always only been a dream. I would be crazy to think I would actually have a shot at being Gabriella.

"Are any of you going to audition?" I asked my friends.
"No way! I hate performing!" Cici replied.
"Yeah we're not theatre geeks like you." Ally added.

I managed to force a laugh before the bell rang and we headed separate ways.
Classes were the same as always — frantically taking notes while the teachers go by the presentation way too quickly, me daydreaming, stressing over the amount of homework I get assigned, etc.
Finally it was lunch. I bought lunch and headed to the library. My friends didn't like how noisy the cafeteria is, so we usually eat in the library. I hate eating their because it smells really weird, but I didn't want to eat alone so I just went along with whatever they want.

"Hey" I greeted Ally and Cici.
"Hi" they said in unison glancing up from their books.
I sat down and took out my phone. I put my AirPods in and listened to Folklore, then put my phone on my lap, since we technically weren't allowed electronics during school. I took out my utensils and started eating, I was starving. Then I felt my phone vibrate. I glanced down at my phone, but my gaze redirected to my thighs. I had always been insecure about them. I sighed, why are my legs so big? I looked at my lunch, I had only took a couple bites of it. I decided to throw the rest out.
After school, I met up with Gina. Our houses are nearby, so we walk home together.

"Hi Gi!" I greeted her.
"Hey Neens!" She replied, "Are you going to audition for the musical?"
"Yup, are you?" I asked.
"Obviously. Which part are you going to tryout for?" She asked.
"I dunno. It would be my dream to play Gabriella, but I don't know if I'm good enough." I told her.
"What? You're like crazy talented! Of course you're good enough!" Gina exclaimed.
"Haha thanks. What about you? Which part do you want?" I asked.
"I want to play Taylor. That way we could be friends in the play too!" She replied.
"Haha that's only IF I get the part." I laughed.
"Don't be ridiculous, you're definitely going to get it." She replied.
"Don't jinx it!" I chuckled.

We talked about High School Musical on the rest of the way home. Is it really possible that I could have a shot of playing Gabriella? I'm so nervous for the auditions tomorrow!

Anyways that's the first chapter!!!
