"CMON MAISIE HELP me!" sarah called as she ran towards a bird, currently sarah was protecting the mice that had been washed up after the hurricane the previous night.
while sarah did this maisie laid comfortably on a chair that had been flown over, trying to tan a little while the sun still shone.
"sare, as much as i love you, my tan is more important." maisie responded as she shielded her eyes from the sun
wheezie called to maisie, "you wont get tan the day after a hurricane mais, do you have any wifi?"
maisie yelled back a no before ward called out for them, "sarah, maisie!"
"im busy!" sarah screamed back as maisie sat up from her comfortable spot
"what are you two even doing?" maisies uncle questioned
sarah didnt turn to look at him when she responded, "the burrows filled with water from the surge. the birds are having a field day!" she started bolting another way
"birds have to eat too, sarah. maisie, are you tanning?" ward asked, turning his attention to her. maisie hummed while nodding.
the three of them, ( ward , maisie , and some other lady maisie didnt know ) walked towards sarah. "no, its mouse genocide out here. no!"
"its the cycle of life is what it is, sweetheart. now, come on." ward tried to reason but sarah continued to disagree "i cant be a part of it. first they came for the mice, daddy."
ward then changed the subject, "yeah well i have an actual human being that you might give some help to."
"im sarah. im so sorry. this is maisie." the cousins shook hands with who ward introduced as lana, scooter grubbs wife
"you two we're storm prepping with him, right?" ward questioned
sarah nodded as she caught her breath, "yeah. he helped me latch the cabin on the druthers." maisie then added "and he helped tie down all the chairs."
"last night?" "mhm" "and did he go out after that?" "from here?" "yeah."
maisie let out a soft laugh, "no, are you crazy? we had a hurricane."
"well, did he say where he was going? get a phone call or mention anything?" lana asked quickly.
sarah shook her head, "he didnt say anything to me. maisie?" "nope, he was oddly quiet though, seemed like he was in a hurry."
sarah added, "im so sorry. is he okay?"
"he's absolutely okay. he just hunkered down somewhere, alright? we're gonna find him." ward started to pull lana away
