"MAIS, YOU KNOW why we're taking you to stay with uncle ward and aunt rose, right?" maisies mother questioned, breaking the thick silence of the car ride.
maisie removed one headphone before speaking up, "yeah mom i know." she responded bitterly.
for clarification maisie was being sent to her uncles for the summer & junior year because of her 'habits' at her old school. those habits being getting high with her friend aria during free period and the occasional class skipping
maisie wasnt exactly proud, but what could she do, the school year was over now anyway.
"im only doing this so you can get a fresh start, okay? i dont want you telling people i threw you out." her mom tried to joke
maisie threw on a fake laugh to make her mom happy, "i know, mom. i'm gonna try and change this summer." that she meant, she didnt like that she became dependent on her smoke sessions and definitely wanted to change atleast a little
"i know you will, baby. im sorry your dad couldnt come with us, you know him, work work work." she mimiced maisies father making mais laugh softly
twenty minutes later and there they were the cameron mansion. the place maisie was dreading arriving. out on the entrance patio there stood the family neatly in a line like they we're posing for a photo
maisie's mom quickly popped out of the car rushing over to hug rose aka her sister in law. "rose, hi!" the englufed as maisie slowly followed behind.
"mais!" sarah screamed as she noticed her cousin, rushing to hug her tightly. once intertwined maisie couldnt help but smile.
she and sarah had grown up side by side, always being their first friend, first playdate, first everything cousins could be.
"hey sar, how you been?" maisie said with little giggles following at how tightly sarah hugged
once pulled away sarah kept her hands on maisies shoulders, "im so happy you're here! gosh its been forever since we've hung out and now we have like a year!"
maisie smiled, now feeling the same excitement sarah carried through her.
"mais, im gonna head now its almost three and it took us three hours here so i better get back before dinner so your dad isnt alone." her mom explained, saying her goodbyes before quickly leaving.
maisie sighed as she stared over at her four bags and one suitcase, "well you definitely packed light." wheezie joked coming up to maisie giving a soft hug before helping ward with maisies bags.
"look at maisie, all grown up!" rafe called as he walked over, after all the parents disappeared.
"hey rafe" she smiled into his chest as he hugged her, "nice hair, you look like a frat boy." she pulled away, reaching up to ruffle his hair to piss him off.
