He opened his eyes groggily and stared blankly up at the ceiling. He sat up and rubbed his eyes with a groan.

It'd been a week since the Eternal Night and the boy had been taken in by the alien family. He didn't expect them to let him go until they knew what he was, and was sure he wouldn't go exposing their secret to the world. However, he hadn't really felt like exposing himself either so every morning he'd insisted that he still needed more rest. He couldn't insist on resting forever though, and he predicted today would be the day he had to come clean.

He stumbled to his feet and strolled over to the window. Outside, a dense woodland surrounded the mothership, and the two alien siblings sat outside with their dog like thing. They were messing around with some large chains that were attached to the ship and guessed this was another one of their attempts to move the house. The chain was fixed onto the back of a taco truck that Stuart was driving, and he began trying to pull the ship along behind him.

"Are they stupid..?" The boy muttered with disbelief. This ship weighed like- a million tons and they expected a toco truck to move it?

Dust sprayed underneath the trucks wheals and the ship began to stir slightly from its place in the earth. As expected the chain gave was and flung backwards, the metal whacked Krel roughly in the face and sent him knocking backwards.

He heard irritated yelling coming from inside the house and began making his way towards it. After watching the aliens for a few days he'd realised that the fireplace inside the old fashioned home lead to the main section of the ship, covered in blue technology and much more spacious than he'd expected.

Once through the fireplace, he followed the annoyed screaming to see Zadra at t he control panels. A pair of red boots were on the screen and she whacked one of the buttons in front of her. "Blasted reboot!"

A gasp sounded behind the boy and he turned to see the two siblings coming from around the corner, "hey, hey, hey! Be gentle! That's not gonna work."

"Nothing works on this ship since that blasted Omen tore through it." The large alien women spat. "I've been trying to contact the Resistance, but mother is..."

The distorted voice of the ship spoke up eerily, "rebooting... teb-reb-reb-reb-reb..."

"...that." Zadra finished with an irritated look on her face.

"You lot are really bad at this." The boy perked your from where he stood behind them.

"Your finally done 'resting' then I take it?" Krel muttered disapprovingly. They weren't stupid. They knew that he was just avoiding an explanation.

A video of the large bulky alien pulled up on screen.

Krel yelled with frustration, "ugh! Why do you keep looking at Vex's logs?"

Aja looked hurt, "I... miss him.

"Well I don't."

"Varvatos saved our lives more than once! You should watch-,"

"No! I don't ever want to see that traitorous face again."

"You lot bicker like a married couple." The boy interjected snidely.

"If your going to be a nuisance," Zadra stated bluntly, "maybe you wouldn't mind giving us an explanation. Name, age, how you aren't dead?"

"Right." The boy snickered, "I'm Erix. Aaaand I'm not dead because I may or may not be a supernatural being." He shrugged and began walking out of the room. He wasn't sure what else he could say and he had better things to be doing.

"Supernatural? Like- a ghost?" Aja asked with a bewildered tone.

"Do I look dead to you?" He asked sarcastically, "oh my lord you guys are stupid. I'm a demon."

The group glanced at each other with confusion.

"Books on human superstitions say that demons have horns and red skin with pointy tails." Krel correction him with a disbelieving look.

"I don't know about the red part... but I definitely have the other two." Erix chuckled.

Within a heartbeat his skin turned blue as though he were a drowned corpse, twisted horns sprouted through his hair. He seamed slightly taller than before with a twisted tail and sharp teeth. Instead of one pair of eyes he now had an extra two pairs which glowed eerily.

The siblings looked taken back and stared with astonishment. Erix chuckled and reverted back to his human form quickly.

"We don't have time for this. I'll patrol the perimeter, the demon will come with me." Zadra commanded. "You and your sister will stay aboard the vessel."

"What?" Aja groaned with disbelief. "We need to see our friends!"

"Friends?" Zadra mimicked with surprise, "your human friends can't help protect you. I can. You two must stay put.

Zadra paced restlessly on the tiled roof of the house.

Erix set on the edge with his legs dangling childishly, he lay on his back with his eyes fixed on the inky sky above.

"You may have saved the life of the royals once." Zadra began through the silence, "but I don't trust you for a second."

He shrugged, "fair enough. I only stayed with you guys so that changeling didn't kill me." At the questioning expression on the alien women's face he shook his head, "long story."

The trees around them rustled and shon creepily in the blue light of the mother ship.

Orange light creeks through the woodland and caught Zadra's eye. She leaned down and Erix followed her with a sigh.

"It's probably just some goblins messing with a car headlight." Erix sighed as he followed after the sprinting alien.
