🌟Rules🌟

1. Do not harass our judges or fellow contestants. Remember that no one is getting paid for this and therefore we should be kind to those going out of their way to read others' works.

2. Your submission must be in line with Wattpad guidelines.

3. You must be 13 and over to enter.

4. I have decided to skip making it a requirement for you to read something to enter but if you are feeling kind and generous I doubt the judges would mind a heartfelt comment on their books.

5. If you would like to make more than one submission (limit of two) please mark the second as extra. What is your favorite flavor? It will only be added to the official list if we do not reach the limit of how many submissions we are accepting for that category. These will be accepted on a first come first serve based on availability and on whether your submission meets the criteria (word count and such).

🌟Categories🌟

Short Story

Short story submissions should be between 1,500 and 7,500 words. They can be in their own book or part of a larger collection as long as we have the name of both the overall book and the short story title. You will not be judged on the cover so don't stress about that if you choose to put it on its own. We will be looking at, plot, characters, flow, grammar, descriptions, originality/creativity.

☆We will have a maximum of 25 spots open.

★Individual Poems★

Individual poem submissions should be submitted with both the main book and individual poem name listed for the judges to find. We will be doing our best to judge broadly as all poems are unique and have their own structures and techniques. I am hopeful that next year we will be able to have more unique categories for types of poems (sonnets, limericks haikus etc) but please be gentle on us in our first attempt. We will be looking at the following things in your poems.

Voice: Voice is essentially creates the feeling that this poem belongs to this author and separates it from other poems.

Rhythm: Rhythm is the pattern of stresses within a line of verse.

Technique: Use of techniques in the poem, such as rhyme scheme, meter, imagery, etc.

Content: Is the content put together well, does it feel connected to an overall message, does it paint a clear image in your mind.

Creativity: Is it creative? This is obviously the most subjective category which is why we will have them read by more than one judge to give a broader perspective.

☆We will have a maximum of 10 spots open.

Poetry Collections

A poetry collection is usually a compilation of individual poems that are related either through subject or style, though they need not all be about the exact same thing. Again, as this will cover such a wide range, we will try to keep our judging broad. We will be looking at the following categories.

Cohesiveness: Do the collected works form a cohesive message or are they just thrown in at random? Or are they thrown in so randomly that it makes sense.

Technique: Use of techniques throughout the poems,

Creativity: Is it creative? This is obviously the most subjective category which is why we will have them read by more than one judge to give a broader perspective.

Grammar: Does the grammar fit the poem? Either it's well done or it's purposefully misused grammar.

☆We will have a maximum of 10 spots open.
