The next few days passed in a blur. Wolves came and went in our now shared room and I spent as much of my time as I could on the roof of the house, the one outside place I could be without getting shocked. There was still no game plan and I felt like Silver was getting a little agitated. She was trying to swim in water that was pulling her down with nothing to pull her back up. I was no better. How do you escape a mad house full of inhuman enemies?
Answer: you don't.
I'd heard nothing more about Lauren, but I feared the worst for her. Silver had told me Marcus was the guy her father sold her to when she was younger and the man she'd helped her escape. I could see the obvious pain in my lover's eyes about being helpless. I myself was no better. I haven't slept since I woke up to find this collar around my neck. I was exhausted but I refused to let my guard down.
A creak drew my eyes to the right to see a guy walking across the slanted roof towards me. I scowled at him as he stopped next to me. "Is this spot taken?" He asked, motioning to the spot beside me.
"No, but I am." I growled.
"No offense but you're not my type." The guy said, plopping down beside me. "I'm Loren."
I glanced at him in surprise. "The guy Silver is supposed to change?"
He sighed. "Yeah. That's what my father wants but I don't mind being who I am."
"And who are you, Loren?" I asked, relaxing.
"I'm a witch." He smiled at my shocked expression. "What? Did you think werewolves existed but we didn't?" He chuckled. "There are all types of creatures. Werewolves, witches, vampires, shapeshifters, etc. Almost anything you thought was supernatural and just a scary story, well it isn't a story anymore. This is real."
"Prove it," I blurted.
He raised an eyebrow. "Prove I'm a witch?" He asked. I nodded and he shrugged, raised his hand, and did a little wiggle of his fingers. I watched in amazement as as our scenery changed. We were now sitting in a church, gazing around its high walls with awe. And Silver was beside me instead of Loren.
"Is this it?" She asked, smiling.
"What?" I said, turning my head towards her.
She laughed and grabbed my hand in hers. "Do you want to get married here?" She repeated the question I hadn't heard.
My heart skipped a beat and I opened my mouth to answer her but the image faded and I was staring at Loren again. "How—-?" My voice was a note higher than normal, but I was clutching his hand as my head spun.
"I showed you your biggest fantasy. And it was quite beautiful, by the way. Does she know you want to marry her?" Loren smiled at me and I gave a breathless laugh.
