Chapter 46

I woke up on Monday morning nervous. I took a shower and walked over to my closet. I picked out some jean skinny jeans, a light blue t-shirt, and some my black converse that had black and green on it.

I tied my hair up in a ponytail and grabbed all my stuff. I couldn't put on any makeup because I was so nervous my hands were shaking. I would end up looking like a racking.

When I got downstairs Drew was sitting by himself.

"Hey Drew." I sat down next to him.

"Hey." He said.

"So hows it going with Kat?" I nudged him.

"Great, thanks Stacey."

"Just call me the Love Doctor." I joked standing up.

"I gotta go. Bye." I said.

I started walking to school and as usual, Seth saw me and picked me up. Good times. Once we got to the school I thanked Seth and ran to see the cast list.

Once inside there was a whole crowd of people around the list. In the center of the crowd was Kelly. She was jumping up and down.

"I got the part!" She yelled.

No. I thought. I squeezed through the crowd and looked at the list.

Tracy Turnblad.....Kelly

Amanda Von Tussle.....Stacey

I got Amanda?! I tried not to look disappointed, although I was extremely so.

I walked to my locker, got all my stuff, and slammed it close with more force then needed.

"Woah, what's wrong?" I turned around and it was Nate.

"Nothing." I lied.

"Is it Hairspray?"

"How'd you know?" I asked.

"Well, everyone knew you wanted the part and Kelly got it so..."

"I hate that girl."

"Its ok Stacey. Don't let her see your upset or you letting her win. Everything will be fine." He said.

I sighed, "Your right. Well I gotta go to first period. Thanks for the pep talk."

"Anytime." He said while walking the opposite way.

****

It was fourth period now and I had just been going through the motions all day. I didn't talk unless being talked to and I wasn't my usual happy self.

"Look, Stacey, it is not the end of the world." Angie said.

"I think I know that." I snapped.

"Fine, damn." Angie said turning the opposite way.

I sighed. I wonder how many times I've done that today.

"Sorry, I'm just upset." I said.

"And that's fine but honestly, you still got a major lead. While Kelly is more of an Amanda in real life and you're more of a Tracy, they're gonna realize the mistake they made. Everything is going to be fine." Angie said.

"You should be a counselor." I smiled.

She flipped her hair, "I know right."

We both burst into laughter.

"What's so funny girls?" Ms.Sarela asked.

"Nothing." We both said.

Once she looked away we started giggling again.
