I watched with curiosity from my curled up position under the fluffy blanket Shockwave gave me as the Autobot medic was brought in, my audials flicking back. I raised my helm when Shockwave also entered with something in his servos, followed by Knockout. Shockwave placed the object in front of Ratchet, and his optics widened in surprise.
I absent-mindedly listened as he and Shockwave spoke about some science jargon that I didn't quite follow (nor could the author remember cause they are dumb). I only refocused my attention when Knockout spoke.
"And to think this wouldn't have happened if we didn't let you destroy Shockwave's lab." Knockout said.
"Let?" Ratchet and I said in unison, Knockout instantly becoming suspicious.
"I mean, um, those CNA samples are not going to produce themselves, aheh." Knockout poorly lied. I stood from the berth and stretched. Once Shockwave was distracted with Ratchet, I snuck out of the lab and followed the cherry mech for a short distance before grabbing him and pulling him down one of the dark corridors. I pinned him against a wall with my servo, hard enough that he would not move but gentle enough to where I wouldn't do any damage.
"Explain yourself and quickly." I whispered.
"I don't know what you mean!" He lied poorly.
"I'm old Knockout, not stupid." I growled. "Just tell me the truth, what did you mean by 'let'?"
"Just... don't tell anyone I told you! Megatron would scrap me if he knew i told you." Knockout said in a hushed voice. "Look, we purposefully lead the Autobots to destroy the lab, Shockwave didn't want it to happen but it was the only way Megatron would know for certain you and Predaking would stay loyal and wouldn't rebel against him." I gave him a puzzled look, my mind racing wildly.
"I knew something was up." I muttered, releasing the medic. "And... Shockwave. You said he didn't want it to happen."
"Correct, Megatron threatened your well-being if he did not comply." Knockout said. "He said he would 'put you down like the beast you were.'" I then pinched the area between my optics and gave an annoyed sigh.
"I'm too old for this scrap." I muttered. "Thank you, Knockout." I then darted out and rounded the corner, Shockwave on the other side.
"Y/D, why did you leave the lab?" Shockwave asked.
"I needed to stretch my legs." I lied, noticing that Soundwave was nearby. "I guess I wandered too far."
"Please do not do such a thing." Shockwave said, the pair of us returning to his lab while Soundwave watched.
'Creepy.' I thought as we entered the lab. I then felt a massive wave of fatigue hit me, and I fell against the nearest wall, a crack forming on my shoulder plate from the impact.
"Eldarth!" Ratchet exclaimed as he and Shockwave went over to me. I grunted and forced myself back up, exhaustion on my face. The two mechs guided me to the medical table, and I laid down. Shockwave went to work on repairing the crack while Ratchet gave me a sad look.
"Y/D, it would be logical for you to not go anywhere without myself or Knockout present. Your systems are deteriorating." Shockwave said. I simply nodded as I was injected with a higher dose of the treatment. I slowly rose up and went over to my berth, curling up with the fluffy blanket wrapped around me. The two mechs then returned to their work. After a bit, I closed my optics and went into a light recharge.
"His condition is worse than I could imagine." Ratchet said sadly as he looked over to me from his work.
"It is... inevitable. He has been suffering from Cryosis even before we met back on Cybertron." Shockwave said.
"That long?" Ratchet asked, clearly surprised. "Cryosis usually takes only a few stellar cycles before it takes one offline."
"Y/D was at the beginnings of Stage 3 when we first met. This suggests he has been afflicted with the disease since the beginning of the war. I hypothesize it has something to do with how resilient Predacons are to disease. I... can only hope that when his time comes, we will be back on Cybertron so he may find his peace."
"He mentioned something about needing to pass on Cybertron. Why is that?"
"They believe that if they fall anywhere else, their sparks will get lost and not join the 'Eternal Hunting Grounds.' It is suposidly a realm where Predacon spirits reside with Onyx Prime whom they see as their ancestor divine. Y/D described it as a peaceful place where the skies are always clear for fliers, and the grounds are clear for all to run free."
"I was unaware of such spirituality from a Predacon." Ratchet said.
"Most view them as mindless beasts. I did as well until I met Y/D. His... illogical perception of the world is... fascinating." Shockwave said with a hint of sadness.
"He seems very attached to you." Ratchet said matter of factly.
"I... am very attached to him as well. It is illogical for me to continue speaking on the matter." I could hear Shockwave shift nervously as he continued to work.
"He doesn't have much time left, Shockwave. He needs to know." I could hear Shockwave paused in thought.
"Illogical." He muttered. I then drifted off into a deeper recharge, my audials flicking as I dreamt of the Eternal Hunting Grounds.
