Chapter Nine: 'Shipping' & Shopping.
~That Night~

"I'm serious, Lex... What if this is the end of Sean and Meg?" I said to Alexa, my best friend, through our FaceTime on my iPad.

The whole family had returned about an hour earlier. Sean was still locked in his room, and it didn't seem like he would come out anytime soon. Parker had stomped into the basement for some reason with some friends. Vanessa was watching American Horror Story with Dad in living room. And Mom was cooking dinner with Hannah. I, on the other hand, had immediately gone to FaceTime Alexa as soon as possible. She was my best friend, after all.

"It isn't the end, Laur. It's a faze. He's going through a rough time right now. Just give him some alone time. It'll be okay. I promise. I gotta get going," she replied, making a kiss noise and giving me a sympathetic smile.

I flashed a slight smile, then hung up the FaceTime. I sighed, looking at my surroundings. The Christmas lights were still up on the walls, the neat and tidy wood part of my floor was clean, and everything looked normal. Almost too normal, to be honest.

Rain fell against the windows, one of my family members yelled of excitement downstairs, and a lawnmower started somewhere in the distance. I sighed, then stood up from bed and started heading for the door. I walked down the stairs, then turned into the kitchen. With the clap of my hands, the lights came on. I grabbed a water from the fridge, then looked out the window.

Suddenly, I heard a loud thump. It came from the basement. I rolled my eyes, remembering Parker and his friends were in the basement. I came down the long staircase, then saw something peculiar.

Rocky, Ryland, and Parker all sat in the basement. Ryland relaxed in the recliner, Parker stood at the front of the room with a whiteboard, and Rocky was on the couch. They had photographs spread out on the carpet, but I couldn't tell what they were since I was farther away. But I could see what was written on the whiteboard:

Ship Names:
•Viker
•Vaniker
•Riknessa
•Rinessa

"What are you guys even doing?" I asked, taking a step down and coming over towards them.

Parker sighed frustrated, "Go away, Laura. I'm hanging out with my friends."

I furrowed my eyebrows, "What are you guys doing anyway?"

"I'm trying to come up with couple names for my new ship." He responded, as if everyone should understand.

"You bought a boat?" I asked, raising my eyebrows up.

Rocky groaned, "A ship is a couple! Relation-SHIP! That's why it's called a ship!"

"Ohhhhhhh, I've heard about those. Who's your guys' ship?" I asked.

"Well, Rocky and I recently learned that we both used to ship Jelena, so we have a friendship for life. Anyway, since Jelena is a hot mess at the moment, Rocky and I have started shipping Riker and Vanessa," Parker gestured at the words written on the board, "thus the ship names."

I started laughing immediately, "Oh my gosh! You guys are so lame!"

They both just rolled their eyes.
"Wait... Since when did Riker and Vanessa become a thing?" I asked, "and why is Ryland just sitting there on his laptop?"

"I didn't wanna be apart of the nerd herd, I'm playing solitaire," Ryland replied nonchalantly, not even looking up.

"And technically, Riker and Vanessa are not together. But there's tons of proof they are secretly," Rocky declared, standing up, then pointing at some slideshow on his iPad that rested on the coffee table.
