'Come on, May! Please join us!' Misty begged, her eyes pleading. 'You know our girl trips aren't the same without you!' May could see Leaf and Dawn nod their heads in agreement.
May swallowed before saying all she could get out. '...Okay, sure,' May replied dryly. This really wasn't what she wanted at all, but who wants to turn down the request of your very closest best friends?
Starry-eyed Misty grabbed May by the shoulder and grinned childishly. 'We've got to get ourselves a nice dress and mask!' She cheered. Leaf and Dawn giggled enthusiastically as well. 'I can't wait!' Dawn cooed. 'Me neither!' said leaf.
...would it be worth it?

May had picked out a dress for herself. Although she did not find it too comfortable, it looked pretty, and it was probably the one most comfortable out of all the dresses that the girls had shoved into her face.
The dress was red, long, and uncomfortable. It uncomfortably sneaked around her skinny figure. She had preferred a slightly wider and thinner dress or gown, who would be nicer to wear, especially when dancing.
But who was she kidding, she couldn't dance! What was she thinking, agreeing on coming to this party just to please her friends? She wasn't able to dance! She'd only embarrass herself!
Shyly and clearly uncomfortable the group of girls walked through a large hallway, behind a door the large dancing hall could be seen.
There were many masked men and women all around, as well as long dinner tables with all kinds of food. Although May could only really usually think of food, right now it seemed different—
As if her tight dress and nervousness drained all her hunger away. This would be a long long night, and she could tell she was going to regret it. Absently she followed the girls, barely hearing what they were chatting on about.
A suited Man with a gallade inspired mask took a bow. 'Please, one of you take one of these cards. They'll come in handy once you've entered the large hall,' the man explained.
May was confused. What was all of this about? She never went to a ball before, let alone a masquerade! Everything seemed so mysterious, not really something that May could enjoy at all. May felt her heart sink.
May was lost, however her friends did not seem puzzled in the slightest: it looked like they were enjoying this mysterious event. 'Okay, thank you, sir!' Dawn replied happily, taking four cards as she handed them out to everyone.
May looked at the white, folded card. She felt like unfolding it until— 'Please refrain from opening it until the announcers say you can. Thank you and enjoy your night!' The butler exclaimed calmly as he slid open the door, revealing all the masked candidates.
May huffed to herself. Great — just great. The four girls then stood there. 'All right... ehm, what do we do now?' Leaf commented dryly, obviously confused about what they were supposed to do. 'Do we wait until the announcers say something?' Misty asked.
'I dunno, maybe?' Dawn chimed in. May kept on glaring at the card between her fingers. 'May, what do you think?'
May couldn't reply as her focus was too settled on how long it would take for this night to be over, and whatever she could to to make it better if in the slightest. 'May?'
Mays eyes widened— she was spacing out. 'Oh, I-I'm sorry. And I think we should wait! How about we get something to eat?' May offered with the best smile she could put on.
The three girls nodded. 'Sounds good! Though obviously I'm not gonna eat too much, I think that'll make me feel insecure in this dress—' Dawn giggled at herself, sweat dropping. May couldn't help but chuckle at the comment. 'Don't worry too much about it, Dawn. You always look amazing,' May shushed.
