Before Liam could open his eyes, he heard several voices whispering and one in particular suggesting that they needed to call the nurse. He could hear the relief in the distinct voices, but when he finally opened his eyes and his vision adjusted, his first words brought the room to a complete silence.

"Where am I? Who are you people?"

He touched the side of his head with a groan, not too pleased that when he opened his eyes, he was met with a headache. As he touched his forehead, he felt a bandage wrapped around it around his head.

He then looked down at himself and noticed he was in a hospital gown and had a few prominent scars on his arms. As he wondered how he got them, he brought one arm closer to his face and the scars seemed like fine lines, each in a different direction.

With nothing seemingly familiar, he narrowed his eyes when he once again paid attention to the three people standing together and close to his bed. They had been watching him in silence.

"You still haven't answered me," he said.

He first looked at the middle aged woman dressed in a white suit. She had black hair and a few gray hairs. Right next to her was a blond guy in a gray suit. As he waited for a response, he analyzed how the two of them looked at each other with furrowed eyebrows, then back at him.

The third person he noticed was a man with a head of gray hair. He only stood still with no reaction and had his hands in the pockets of his black suit. Maybe it was because of the man's glasses, but Liam already noticed his indifference.

"Do you really not recognize your own mother?" The woman asked with a tone of concern, clutching the white pearls around her neck which matched with her nail polish.

Liam shook his head, analyzing her expression of concern as she covered her mouth.

"Or your own father?" The man with glasses asked, keeping a poker face and neutral tone. Liam shook his head again, noticing how the man was almost like a statue.

Then, the youngest of the three people Liam could see, pointed at himself with a smile that showed off his white teeth. "You at least recognize me, right? I'm Justin, your best friend!"

"I don't know any of you," Liam said, not even glancing at Justin as he pressed the palms of his hands on the sides of his bed so he could sit up.

"Oh, my son, what's wrong?" The woman asked as she got closer and gently touched his face.

"Don't touch me," Liam said, pushing her hand away as he moved his head to the side.

"Young man, show some respect to your mother!" The man in glasses stepped forward, his tone threatening.

Unable to recognize any of them, Liam could only stare at the man in glasses with a blank expression. He didn't know his true nature but it didn't matter. His struggle to identify anything far outweighed that threatening tone.

He got his legs off the bed, letting them dangle for a few seconds before his feet could touch the ground, but his mother rushed to him and held onto both feet.

"Maybe you should stay in bed for now," she said.

"I thought I told you not to touch me," he said to her with a blank expression.

"How about you start showing some respect to your mother before you regret it?"

Even when Liam could sense the tension from the man who was supposedly his father, not once did it make him flinch.

"Alright...alright," Justin said with his hands together. "I think everybody just needs to calm down. Mr and Mrs Hawkins, I'll handle this," he said to them, then focused on Liam. "I understand if you can't recognize them, but me?" He pointed at himself with wide eyes. "You really don't recognize me?"
