The awkward tension was very detectable, especially when they all thought it was best to keep Ethan Landry around them, calling it a keeping your enemies closer.
It had made her feel unsettled. The entire walking that they have done, following Gale to wherever she was leading them, Serena can feel Ethan's gaze on her, and she didn't like it one bit.
Despite standing right beside Chad, hand intertwined with his for a sense of security, she still didn't feel safe. Any sense of security that she had felt, it vanished last night.
It had vanished the moment she witnessed her friends death. Also, fearing on how exactly to tell her friends parents, that their daughter is dead. How exactly do you tell someone that, specifically a mother that their child that they had brought into this life, was taken by some monster?
You don't really know because no one ever prepares you for this, you aren't ever prepared for this part of the real world.
Snapping out of her own thoughts when Chad softly spoken to her, "Are you okay?" He had immediately closed his eyes, slowly reopening them. Of course, she wasn't okay, "I'm sorry that came out wrong." He deeply apologized to her.
Serena offered him a soft smile knowing that he meant well, "No, you're all good, Chad. I'm not okay, but I'd like to believe that maybe, uhm someday. . . i will be." She gently told him.
He smiled gently at her.
All while, two were staring at Serena intently.
Gale's voice had echoed, capturing their instant attention, "Jason and Greg were little Atlantic rich boys." Gale voice had announced as she carried on, "Apparently, they used fake names to rent this place." Retorted.
Kirby who was walking right beside Gale, confusion written all over her face, "How did you find it?" Eying Gale in complete shock.
Gale who sarcastically reply with her tone also sounding serious, "It's called 'investigative journalism' for a reason." Turning her head to quickly glance at Kirby, "How didn't you find it? Weren't you tracking them?" She remarked.
Kirby who's voice had sounded completely monotone, responding back, "I went through their financial records dozens of times. This was not in any of them. Doesn't make sense." She instantly replied, 'cause never once did she find this when she was investigating the case.
