Chapter 12
I grabbed my gun from its holder, and started shooting all the people not wearing a S.H.I.E.L.D. uniform. I looked around for my father, but he was no where in sight. I saw Maria, fighting along side Fury, both smiling after killing someone.
I heard the loud crashes downstairs that was most likely the Hulk, smashing the helicarrier to the ground. I knew Tony was outside with Steve, trying to keep us in the air, but I was worried that they'd fail.
I looked at Fury, waiting for a command, but I never got one. It was as if he wanted to pretend I wasn't there. I ran to find my father, but instead I found Clint.
"Oh my god! Clint are you okay?" I ran over to him about to hug him, but he had his bow and an arrow pointed at my face.
"Clint it's okay, it me Clair."
"Step away Clair." It felt so good to hear his voice again.
"I'm going to help you." I said taking a step closer, and ignoring his order.
Clint sighed, as if he knew who I was and didn't want to hurt me, but couldn't stop either. He moved his bow down a little, and I thought he was going to let me help, but instead he shot my left shoulder. Clint took off in the other direction. I sank to the floor. I yanked the arrow from my shoulder, and sat there. I was scared, I hadn't seen my dad since the fight started, Clint just shot an arrow at me, the Hulk was unleashed, Natasha was most likely smashed into the ground if someone didn't help her, I didn't know where Thor was, and Steve and Tony, two people who don't get along, were trying to keep this hellicarrier flying.
"Fury, what are the Avengers doing?" I asked through my earpiece.
"Stark and Rogers are outside keeping us in the air. Thor and Hulk are on the lower level, fighting. And I just sent Natasha to go stop Clint."
"Okay, any suggestions where I should go?"
"Go to the lab, Loki's scepter is there, and if he gets freed, he'll go for it. "
"Alright." I said as I walked down to the lab. Everyone else got to fight, and I was stuck in a lab. I walked around to Starks computer, and saw Phase 2. I shut down the computer, not wanting to look at it anymore. Why couldn't they get along? Or work together? I took a seat in a chair and waited.
After a few minutes, the hellicarrier became quieter. Not by much, but you could no longer hear the roaring of the Hulk. I stood up, and abandoning my post, ran to the lower level to find Thor.
Thor was on the floor, pulling a piece of glass from the window, out of his arm. He looked up at me, and grinned.
"Hey, how was fighting the Hulk?" I asked.
Thor laughed. "It was okay actually."
"Right well um, Loki." I didn't know how to put that nicely so I just said his name.
Thor nodded, as he got up, and held his hand out for his hammer.
"Okay, I have to go lock the lab, so I will meet you there, okay Thor?" He looked at me, studying my face.
"You don't have to go to his room you know?"
I nodded, "ya but I could use some revenge for Barton."
"Than I shall meet you there." I ran back to the lab.
I walked up to the door and went over to a small device next to the door. I typed in the obvious code: Hulk. Then so that I wouldn't pass Fury, I took the long way to Loki's room.
I saw Natasha fighting Barton, she bit his arm. I laughed because it looked so strange, but I didn't linger. I finally made it to the room.
I typed in the code, and entered the room. I looked at the cage, and saw Thor standing inside. I was confused.
"No!" Thor yelled slamming his fist on the glass. I turned to what he was looking at.
Loki had just stabbed his septer into my fathers back. The tears slid down my face, uncontrollably.
"No! Dad!" I screamed running over to him.
"Hey, it's alright."
"No. No! It's not." I took my fathers hand. "I can't lose you." I cried. I turned to Loki, "why?!? Why him!?!"
"Oh, darling, things happen get over it." Loki responded walking over to the controls, and dropping the cage, holding Thor.
"I can't get over something like this." I complained looking back at my father. His hands were getting cold. I looked at him. "You're going to survive this." I told him.
He shook his head. "Clair everything is okay." He whispered.
"No! Your not leaving me! I can't lose you, not like mom!"
"Sweetheart I'm sorry, I didn't know you were his daughter." Loki said kneeling down next to me.
"Why does it matter?" I growled turning back to Loki.
"Oh, it doesn't I'm just apologizing."
"Hey, ignore him." My father smiled, wiping away my tears, but they were still streaming down my face.
"Why are you okay with this?"
"Because in order for them to work together they need a push."
"A push! You want to be that push?" I asked. "Don't answer that!" I yelled.
"Clair please."
"Dad I love you but I can't let this happen."
"You can't control it."
I stood up and turned to Loki. "I need to talk to you." He nods, and follows me out of the room.
"So they're going to work together, because my father died?" I asked Loki.
He paused before answering, "yes. Why?"
"Because it's not fair. It's not fair that someone has to die, before they can work like a team."
"Sorry, it's just the way they are. They need something to fight for."
"Can you save my father?"
"No, it's done he will die."
"But I can get my revenge?" I asked.
"Yes."
"Give me a minute Loki."
I walked back into the room. My father looked back at me. I went over to him, and hugged him, "Dad, don't go." I whispered sobbing.
"Clair sweetie, you have grown so much, in just one year, you are strong, and independent, you don't need your father around."
"Doesn't mean I don't want him around."
"Trust me, everything is alright."
"Daddy... Don't go, don't leave me here alone." He smiled at the sound of daddy.
"I'm okay with this."
"Well I'm not. I can't do this! ...I'll miss you." I kissed his cheek.
"I love you too.' He smile again as I walked out of the room.
"Give me a second." Loki said walking back into the room.
About two minutes later he walked back out, and smiled at me.
"Are you ready?" He asks.
"...Yes." I looked down at his hand, and smiled. He grinned as I took it, and we left in a jet, I didn't know where we were going, and honestly I didn't care. I was upset that they needed a push, but I also got a push from my fathers death, a push to work against those I once called my team.
I'm sorry for killing Phil Coulson. We will all miss him dearly. :'(
