The cold air touched the tips of his ears, making his ears twitch slightly. Henry got out of the car, smiling widely next to Jax. "Beautiful, isn't it?" He asked as he took in a big breath of fresh air, taking in the beautiful scenery. Jax nodded his head and looked down at the ground timidly. Henry noticed he seemed uncomfortable. He put a hand on his shoulder, squeezing it slightly before dropping it back to his side. "I know some things have happened to you, but we don't do things like that here. You have my word." He said honestly. "If anyone gives you trouble, you come to me understood?" Jax nodded his head in understanding. "Good, now let's get you settled into your room."
They both walked into the house and instantly got met with the smell of freshly baked cookies. "I see you're home, honey." A strange woman said, kissing Henry's cheek. Must be his mate, Jax thought. "How was your trip?" He looked over at Jax and smiled. "It went great. I brought home someone new." She followed his gaze and was astounded. "I'm so sorry. I hardly recognized." She embraced Jax in a strong hug. It was brief, but it hurt his ribs really bad. "Well, I baked some cookies for you when you got home, but Jax, you're welcome to them too." She said before she walked away.
Henry took Jax to his room upstairs. "Well, this is your room." He says as he opens the door. Jax noticed the room was empty except for a bed in the center of the room. "Go ahead and get settled in. I'm gonna go get you registered, and in a day or two, we'll introduce you to the rest of the pack."
Jax could hardly sleep that night. He had trouble most nights, but it felt different somehow. A subtle knock on his door broke him out of his thoughts. He goes to answer it, his heart beating rapidly from fear. He wasn't sure why he was afraid. He believed Henry when he said that he was safe, so why was his heart beating so fast?
He pulled back the door and was immediately met with a sweet aroma coming from the man that stood across from him. "Hi, I'm Maxwell, but you can call me Max. You're Jax, right?" He asked, sticking out his hand. Jax's heart slowly went back to normal as he realized there was no threat. He gently shook his hand. "Nice to meet you." Max gave him an assertive nod before clearing his throat. "My dad wants you to come downstairs to eat with some of the pack members." He noticed the uncomfortable shy look on Jax's face and was immediately trying to make him feel more at ease. "It's not a lot of people, so don't worry. It's just gonna be me, my mom and dad, and like three others."
Jax got some fresh clothes on and walked downstairs with Maxwell. They sat down at the pack table to eat with some of the pack members. "So you're a male omega just like Maxy here, huh?" One of the werewolves said, ruffling Max's hair. "Yeah." He said shyly before looking down at the food in front of him. "So tell us a bit about yourself. There's no need to be so shy." The Luna said. "Well, there's not much to say. I had a loving family, but my pack hated me. Now I'm here." Luna looked over at her husband expectedly. Henry cleared his throat and looked at Jax. "So, Jax, how was your first night here?" He asks, trying to get off the topic. "I slept well." Henry knew he was lying by the way his voice sounded shaky but left it at that. "So, are you ready for the big dinner tonight?" The Luna asked. Jax furrowed his brow in confusion and turned to look at Henry. "Oh, I forgot to tell him." Henry looked over at Jax. "We throw a big dinner party to introduce newcomers to the pack."
Jax already felt anxious enough with the few strangers sitting with him at the table. Imagining a pack house full of strangers made his skin crawl. Everyone at the table could tell that he was anxious about the whole thing. "Don't worry, buddy, I got your back." Max slung an arm around his shoulder, grinning at him. "Us male omegas have to stick together." For some reason, he found that Max's sent calmed him down a bit. "Your scent made the anxiousness go down," Jax said curiously. "Well, of course. Omegas give off a calm aroma from their pheromones. It's why a lot of the time, when one omega is in the heat, it's good for them to be around other omegas." He explained. "I thought that there were pills to help with that?" Jax questioned. "Yeah, there is, but they don't help calm you down they just help keep the scent at bay." He explained. "But you will still try to fuck anyone in sight unless you're mated."
Henry cleared his throat and everyone turned to look back at him. "Max, your brother will be joining us too. He hopes that he'll find his mate soon."
Max groaned in protest. "No. Why can't he just stay at the Lycan pack house?" Henry rolled his eyes at the question. He didn't quite understand why Max disliked his brother so much.
'I guess I will find out in a day or two.' He thought to himself.
