"ARIES! ARIANE! COME ON! IF YA'LL MAKE ME LATE AGAIN THIS MONTH'S BILLS WILL BE COMING OUT OF YOUR ALLOWANCE!" I yelled upstairs to my two children, huffing in annoyance. Suddenly I heard the sounds of rushed movements. I swear, once they hit high school, the two sweet, lovable angels I birthed slowly morphed into moody, rebellious, bratty ass monsters, who only care about the latest trends and being popular.
Don't get me wrong, I love my babies, but they can drive you to drink, and then will have the nerve to try to ask for a sip. They say it's gonna happen anyway one day when they're older, so why not try a little now, especially in a controlled environment, sounding every bit like their father. I told them when they have a stressful full time job like mine, and have to raise two rambunctious teenagers by themselves like I do, then they can drink all they want. Until then, they can get out my face with that.
A few seconds later I was greeted by my two lovely children as they grumbled down the stairs with their annoyed scowls on their faces. "Really Mom? Threatening us with our allowance again? Not cool," Ariane said as she passed me on the steps.
I smirked, "But it got you downstairs didn't it?" I said with a chuckle, making them groan as I grabbed my keys and opened the door so we could leave, "And just so you know my Love, as your mother I'm not supposed to be cool, I'm supposed to be effective. Mission accomplished, now get in the car," I instructed as I closed and locked the door behind us.
"Wait, but what about breakfast?" Aries whined as we walked towards my car.
"What about it? You should have thought about that while you were busy lollygagging this morning, because I definitely woke you up early enough to have time to eat. You gonna have to wait until lunch Baby boy," I said and he started to whine some more, "Aries relax, you have first lunch today, you can wait until then," I replied as I started up the car and began to pull out the driveway.
"But maaaaa, that's too long! You know breakfast is the most important meal of the day, how else am I supposed to focus and pay attention to what the teacher is saying?" he asked, trying to guilt trip me.
"I don't know Son, it shouldn't be too hard considering your teacher tells me you barely pay attention now, regardless of if you've been fed or not," I countered, and I heard Ari snicker under her breath.
"Oooh, she got you there bro," she laughed and he mushed her head in annoyance.
"Oh shut up, no one asked for your input," he said as he tried to dodge Ari's slap in retaliation, "Ow, hey! Watch those claws before you put an eye out! MA!"
"Aye both of you chill out before I pull this car over and come back there, then none of us will have a good morning," I scolded, and they immediately stopped. "Now Aries, don't put your hands on your sister, I taught you better than that. And Ari, don't hit your brother, you don't always have to match his energy. Now cut it out and apologize to one another before I make you two wear matching T-shirts expressing how much you love each other," I threatened and they both cringed as they quickly apologized to one another, "That's what I thought."
