Sometimes they'd ask me weird questions about our relationship. However, I figured it's out of pure ignorance so I try not to get frustrated and just answer the most polite I can. As long as they know not to take it too far, we'll be fine. Because one thing's for sure, I have no problem whatsoever putting my family in their place when it comes to my girlfriend. Disrespectfully at that.
"Hey man, leave him be. Dude likes his lady. Matthew, you should be taking notes instead of making fun," Tyler said. Everyone laughed at his comment.
"Thank you Ty-ler," I said to him, but faced Matthew with a sweet sarcastic smile.
"Oh whatever, I'm just fine with my little system."
"Your little system has you single and lonely," Addy sassed, soliciting a snicker from us guys.
"Anyway, who would've thought that playboy Dylan would get wifed up in a matter of months. You're like a whole new person dude." Matthew nudged my shoulder.
Sighing, I pivoted in my seat to face them, "listen ladies," I said, knowing full well there was only one in the room, "love is a very powerful thing, and you're boy here ain't complaining, that's all I'll say." I shrugged a shoulder.
"Oh so it's love now?" Addy arched an eyebrow in amusement.
As a matter of fact, I nodded, "Sure is."
Addy laughed in response, "and does Miss Aria know that?" My face scrunched up, offended,
"Ah- she will? The hell?" They all snickered at me as I sassily rolled my eyes. Addy was always trying to come for someone.
"You guys, food's ready!!" My uncle, Archer, yelled to us from upstairs. Hearing his announcement, we fled from our seats and headed up there without another word. Finally. I've been waiting all day to eat.

Sade's POV:
It's pushing damn near seven o'clock and I still ain't ate shit. Black people piss me off. How you been cooking since the day before and still ain't finished by at least 3? Then got the nerve to starve us all day because we 'bout to eat.' We've been 'bout to eat' since eleven o'clock and at this point, I don't even want the shit no more.
We were all gathered at my grandma's house for the holiday given it's the largest and has the biggest kitchen. My mom has three sisters and two brothers which gave my grandmother fifteen grandchildren total. My sisters, our four teenage cousins, and myself were all in the family room. It was this mini living room on the second floor of my grandmother's house that you entered as soon as you came up the stairs. The adults were on the main floor doing whatever the hell grown ups do and the smaller kids were mostly outside or in the game room. I sat in a single comfortable rocking chair while my sisters were on the couch, and my cousins took the carpeted floor.
"Alright y'all, food's ready! Little ones first!"
A deep, exasperated groan escaped my throat as I rolled my eyes hard, "Oh my fucking g-" My body shook against the chair as I began to throw a mini tantrum. I'm fucking hungry bruh.
