"He killed his parents?!" I ask, with my mouth hanging open.

"Let's talk about this inside, okay?" Natalie says softly, opening the car door.

I hesitantly nod, and get out.

"Hello Luna, Natalie," Caden greets, walking towards us.

"You can call me Brynn," I immediately correct. I don't bother asking him what a Luna is, as I know I won't be getting an answer.

"Hey Caden," Natalie smiles. "Are you coming in?"

Caden nods. "Those were the Alpha's orders."

The three of us walk into Natalie and Asher's home. I follow the two into the living room, where Natalie and I sit on the couch, and Caden takes a seat on one of the chairs.

"The Alpha wants to know if you're okay," Caden says, looking at me.

I'm confused for a minute, and then remember that he is referring to Braxton. "Um... you can tell him that I'm fine. Those guys were creepy, but nothing happened," I tell him.

"Alright," he says. I'm expecting him to pull out a phone or something to contact Braxton, but he doesn't.

"Are you going to... call him or text him to tell him that?" I ask, furrowing my eyebrows.

Caden's eyes widen as if he just remembered something. "Oh, yeah, right!" He pulls out a phone and types a bunch of stuff, before putting it back away.

"Okay, so, Brynn," Nat starts. "I know you have a lot of questions about Sebastian, and I'm going to try to answer as many of them as I can. But, you shouldn't mention Sebastian to Braxton. He has a short temper, and that is something that never fails to set him off."

I nod in understanding. "Is Sebastian in jail?" I ask, hoping that he is. Even though I've never seen him, he definitely scares me. Damien was bad enough; I can't imagine how horrible Sebastian is.

"No," Natalie answers. I'm expecting her to expand on the answer, but she doesn't.

"Why not?"

"We haven't... informed the police about Braxton's parent's deaths," Nat explains.

My mouth falls open "What? Why haven't you?"

"They can't help," she says cryptically.

"Of course the cops can help! That's their job!" I exclaim. I don't know why, but I really want justice for Braxton's parents. Even though I have never met them.

Natalie sighs and shakes her head. "That's not what I mean. It's just that... there's no forensic evidence to prove that he did it. Sebastian would never go to jail, even if the case went to court."

"How are you guys so sure that he killed them, then? If there's no evidence..." I trail off.

"We were there," Caden answers, and I look over at him. There's a far away look in his eyes, as if he is remembering the event. "Braxton, Asher, me, a bunch of the other guys. We watched it happen."

My lip trembles and I feel tears brim my eyes. "I- I'm so sorry."

"It's okay, it was several years ago," Caden tells me. "As bad as this may sound, it has made us all stronger."

"How... how did he kill them?" I ask quietly. I don't know why I asked that, as I probably don't actually want to know. But it just slipped out.

"He tortured them both, for hours," Caden says. "When we finally found them, they were horribly scarred. Then, he killed them... ripped their heads off. The worst part of it all was seeing the look on Braxton's father's face, as Sebastian killed his mate. I've never seen someone look so heartbroken. I can't imagine the pain he must have felt. I can't imagine the pain that Braxton must have felt."

As I listen to Caden's story, I feel the tears begin to fall, as sadness overwhelms me. I've never been close to my parent's, but I can't imagine losing them. And seeing it happen, so gruesomely too!

I feel Natalie put an arm around me and I look over at her. She's crying as well, as I lean into her, for comfort.

"How- how can he get away with something so horrible?" I choke out.

"Oh, he won't," Caden promises, eyes darkening. "Not for much longer. We will get our revenge."

I admire the way that Caden is supporting his friend, as if Braxton's parents were his own. But, the word revenge sends a shiver down my spine.

"What are you going to do to him?" I ask the question even though I am pretty sure that I already know the answer.

"Kill him," Caden responds.

It feels like my heart is in my throat, and I don't know how to reply. Suddenly, I hear the front door open. I'm terrified, for a moment, that it is Sebastian. However, when I see that Caden and Natalie haven't even flinched, I know it must be someone that they know.

In a few seconds, Braxton and Asher round the corner. I notice that they are both wearing fitted suits, like Braxton was last night when I met him. It confuses me, as they were both in shorts and t-shirts this morning.

I meet Braxton's clear blue eyes and I feel a wave of comfort rush through me. Braxton looks me over from my head to my toes, as if searching for injuries. His eyes return to my face and I see relief in them. It doesn't last long, however, as they darken drastically when he looks at my face.

In a second, he's in front of me, squatting so our eyes are level. Braxton's hands come up and cup my face, forcing me to meet his intense gaze. "Why are you crying?" he asks in a low, rumbling voice.

I swallow loudly. "It doesn't matter," I say, remembering Natalie's advice of not mentioning his parents in front of him.

Braxton's eyes darken even more. "You are crying! Of course it fucking matters!" he growls. I'm so shocked by the fact that his eyes pretty much look black at this point that I barely even register the fact that he cursed.

"Braxton," I hear Asher warn.

The man in front of me closes his eyes, looking like he is trying to calm himself. Finally, he reopens his, now light blue, eyes. He looks like he is about to say something, but I cut him off.

"Why do your eyes change color?" I whisper. It definitely is not normal for a human's eye color to change that drastically.

Braxton looks conflicted, and for a minute, I actually believe that he's going to answer me. But then, he opens his mouth and I'm disappointed yet again. "I can't tell you that right now, princess."

"Why not?" I ask, raising my voice. I had already stopped crying, but now I feel the tears returning. "I just want to know the truth!"

Braxton's eyes widen and in a second, he is sitting where I was on the couch and I'm sideways on his lap. One of his hands is running through my hair, and the other is holding on tightly to one of mine.

"Shh, sweetheart," he soothes, his lips pressing against my temple softly. Being in his arms calms me down quickly, and it feels completely natural.

"I will tell you everything," Braxton promises as his brings our intertwined hands towards his mouth and plants sweet kisses on my knuckles. "Just not right now, okay?"

I shake my head rapidly. "No! I want to know now!" I know that I sound like a child throwing a temper tantrum, but at this point, I don't care.

Braxton sighs, pulling me close. "Okay, baby. I will tell you tonight, all right? First, we're going to have dinner with your parents, Asher and Natalie. But then, I promise that I will tell you everything."
