Percy totally wanted to get a prophecy the day he went back home to see his mother. Totally.
Percy Jackson hated prophecies. Did Rachel really have to spit out a prophecy right as Percy was leaving camp? Now he was sat in the back seat of the camp van with his cousins.
Thalia Grace, Daughter of Zeus and Lieutenant of Artemis, and Nico Di Angelo, Son of Hades. Currently, the three were fighting over whose dad's domain was better. Thalia was saying Zeus, Nico was saying Hades, and Perc was saying Poseidon.
Now you may be wondering what the prophecy was that had three very destructive forces in the back of a strawberry van together. Well, here you go. It all started that morning during breakfast.
Rachel was just finishing her breakfast and made a move to get up when the Oracle of Delphi decided to make an appearance.
"Royal by blood
Three powers of Greek
The Shadow, the Sky, and the Sea
A wizard to defeat
A legacy to keep," The Oracle pointed towards Nico at the Hades table, then Thalia with the Hunters, and finally Percy at the Poseidon table as she named the domains of the Big Three.
Rachel collapsed and two people were at her side catching her by the underarm and placing her on the nearest bench.
"What did I say?" a more lucid Rachel asked a few seconds later.
Chiron repeated the prophecy and then motioned for the three questers to follow him.
"Well, Lady Hecate already wanted to talk to you three. We will just have to inform her of this new development," Chiron mused to the three teens following behind him.
"Why would she want to talk to us?" Percy asked a hint of distaste in his voice. He did not want to go on any more quests after the Second Giant War.
"It's about your mothers' side of the family," Chiron explained.
Thalia clenched her teeth she didn't like her mother and doubted she'd like her mother's family any more than she did her mother.
Nico did not know his mother had any remaining family out in the world. He thought he was the last generation of Di Angelos.
Percy thought his mother's parents died in a plane crash. That's what his mother told him at least.
The four walked into the Big House and were greeted by a lady of ethereal beauty. Her eyes were dark black they seemed to hold the whole night sky. Her hair greatly contrasted the dark eyes with its platinum blonde. She rated the energy of the gods. She wore dark robes to match her eyes. On her back were twin torches. At her side laid a dog and a polecat.
"Hello young heroes," the goddess greeted, a soft smile on her ageless face.
"Good day, Lady Hecate," Chiron greeted back, "There has been a development. A prophecy was issued."
A small frown appeared on Hecate's face.
"Then we must be quick. What was the prophecy?" She asked.
"Royal by blood
Three powers of Greek
The Shadow, the Sky, and the Sea
A wizard to defeat
A legacy to keep" Chiron recited.
"Well, we know where they must go," Hecate said before turning to the demigods, "I created a world a while back. Hidden from the eyes of mortals. I blessed four mortals with powerful magic. Each with different qualities. Two males and two females. Rowena Ravenclaw, Helga Hufflepuff, Godric Gryffindor, and Salazar Slytherin. Rowena valued intelligence above all others. Her thirst for knowledge could rival the children of Athena.
Godric Gryffindor valued courage and bravery above anything else.
Salazar Slytherin valued the cunning and the pure-blooded.
Helga. Well, sweet Helga, she took them all. She valued patience and loyalty, the hard-working and just, fairness and modesty. Soon, they grew too powerful to hide from the gods and I was forced to reveal them. So, the Olympia family was born to the Wizarding World."
The Big Three children were fidgeting but eagerly listening to the story so Hecate continued, "I am Lady Helen to them. Your fathers are King Zander, King Plato, and King Hayden to them. Now that is not what I came here to tell you. Your mothers. Each of them comes from powerful bloodlines within the Wizarding World.
Thalia your mother is descended from a family by the name of Laurel. Your mother was a Slytherin with ambitions to become an actress. She succeeded, but in the process lost her family because of her pursuit of fame in the mortal world.
Perseus your mother is a powerful witch but comes from one of the darkest lines. Her father was a Slytherin but she was a kind Hufflepuff. Her family disowned her for her house. She was then brought up by Estelle and Jim Jackson. Her father is the Dark Lord. He goes by Lord Voldemort, but his given name is Tom Marvalo Riddle. Your mother's given name is Sally Riddle.
Last but not least, Nico. Your mother comes from a strong Italian line of wizards. Your mother moved to America because of the war as you know. She was at Hogwarts years and years ago. Her house was Hufflepuff she loved and was kind to anyone she would meet. She was the most powerful witch of her year much like Sally.
Now, Riddle has risen back to power and you have been discovered on the Black family tree. The Order is after you to make sure you do not join Riddle and his followers. Frankly, are called by a ridiculous name. Death Eaters, who would want to eat Thanatos? I don't know where he got the name but that is what they are called.
They will be arriving at Percy's house shortly after he returns. I want you three to go and protect the one destined to kill Riddle. Will you accept the quest?" Lady Hecate finished her explanation.
With the prophecy, the children had no choice so they mutely nodded after a subtle look at each other that conveyed a thousand emotions and words.
"Good. Since you do not know much of the Wizarding World I will give you basic knowledge of it," she placed a hand on their foreheads one at a time. A warm tingly sensation overwhelmed Percy, Thalia, and Nico but they managed to stay upright. Images and words flooded through their brains. They knew basic spells and information that would come in helpful about their families' role within the Wizarding World.
Thalia told Lady Artemis about what was happening through IM. Lady Artemis granted leave to her Lieutenant. Lady Artemis was Lady Diana in the Wizarding World.
After that, Nico and Thalia packed. It seemed as if all of Camp Half-Blood congregated near Thalia's tree to bid them goodbye. Peleus even gave a nudge of affection to them.
With solemn goodbyes out of the way and death threats if they did not come back alive the questers got into the back of the Camp van with Argus. They fidgeted and argued the whole way to Sally Jackson's house but it was all in good fun.
"Mom we're home," Percy announced after opening the door with his key.
Sally ran up to him and squished him in a bear hug. She always missed him while he was at camp. Scared he would be dragged off on another quest. Her hopes for him to have a peaceful year were dashed with four words.
"We have a quest."
The words in question came from a solemn Thalia, who did not wish to inform the closest thing she had to a mother about the danger they would be in.
"Oh, babies," Sally cooed dragging the cousins into her bear hug, "You can do this. When do you leave? I hate to see you go but apparently, the fates do not like to give you peace. Is there anything I can do to help you?"
"We leave whenever the wizards get here," Percy informed her, "No the fates don't like to give us peace," Percy chuckled.
Okay, it's 1300 words did I make up for the lost words in the last chapter? I don't know how to write ADHD and the mood was more serious than I would have liked. I think I did okay with explaining things to them. Probably the first time in forever something has been explained in full detail to them.
-Scarlett.
