Princess seems to have been hanging out with the new kid as of late. He's a foreign student from Beijing, China from what I have heard from others. Ling Haoyu is his name. I don't know which one to believe but some say that he moved here after one of his parents recieved a permenant job opportunity here while others say that he's like Bridget and is living with his Aunt who happens to live here. Either way, it doesn't matter. He's always hanging around Bridget and I don't like it. Jong-Dae doesn't like it either. For once I and the sly giant are on the same page about something.
"God, what did his parents feed him in China," I muttered, "He's tall. Probably taller than you, Jong-Dae."
Jong-Dae scoffed. "No he's not. I'm an inch taller than that guy. You're no match though because you're so short and all."
I can feel my eye twitch in sheer annoyance at his unnessecary remark about my height. "I'll have you know that I'm average height for a guy, idiot." I sneered.
Jong-Dae ruffled my hair. "Keep telling yourself that Garden Gnome."
"G-Garden Gnome?!"
"Are you going to pay attention to the guy hanging around Bridget all of a sudden or are you going to argue with me?"
I muttered swear words up under my breath and shifted my fous back to the Haoyu and Bridget chatting up a storm. If there's one big thing that thiose two share in common is that they're foreigners. Therefore, they understand each other in the aspects of adjusting to a whole new enviornment. A whole new language and letter system. A new form of currency. All in all, a whole new area geographically to adjust to. I may have lived in America for shirt amount of time but that was only to study abroad. Aside from studying abroad, I've lived in Korea my entire life along with Jong-Dae. That means that we are at a complete disadvatage because we don't fully understand her struggle of adjusting. She's lived in Australia her whole life until she moved here. She was raised speaking Australian Enlgish. Not Korean with a dialect depending on what area she's living in. Haoyu is pretty much on the same level as her. He's lived in Beijing, China, speaking Mandarin Chinese for most of his life just to have to completely uproot his life and suddenly adjust to a new langauge and a new alphabet. He understands her struggle. I don't. Jong-Dae doesn't either. Of course, they're going to have a better time relating to one another.
"Damn it." I sighed, "He has a total advantage over us."
"What do you mean?"
"Jong-Dae he's a foreigner like her. He understands her struggles better. We don't. Think about it, we've lived here in Korea our entire lives and we have never had to worry about being suddenly uprooted to live in a whole new area geographically. Both him and Bridget are going through that. Therefore, they're going to have a better time understanding each other and relating to each other's expirences as foriegners."
"As much as I completely hate to admit it, you're right. I mean, they've been chatting up a storm since they've met each other. We seriosuly need to up our game if we want to prevent having an extra contestant for Bridget. I don't know about you, but I don't want to have to let someone else in on the agreement."
The moment I mentioned the agreement, I felt a hard wack on my head from something that felt like a book. "And just what do you two idiots think you're doing?" Soon-Yi says from behind the both of us. "You both look like celebrity stalker fans. Why are you two even spying on Bridgey and Haoyu anyways?"
Jong-Dae rubbed the back of his head. "I should really stop leaning over to match the height of others." He mumbled under his breath.
Soon-Yi raised her book back up. "You may have height but I have a good throwing arm." She stated," I will ask you both again. Why are you two even spying on Bridget and Haoyu? Might I remind you that I despise repeating myself."
"Well she and that guy have been hanging out a lot more don't you think?"
Soon-Yi simply scoffed. "So you mean to tell me that you're jealous of Haoyu already? That you two went from being jealous of each other and competeing against each other to being jealous of a guy who literally only got here about two weeks ago at the minimum? God you men really are babies. Might I remind you both that neither of you are dating Bridget yet because neither of confessed due to that stupid agreement you two made. You better be counting your lucky stars that I'm actually not doing anything about it for now. If Bridget wants to be with Haoyu then she has every right to do so. she belongs to neither of you two morons."
Jong-Dae and I stayed silent. Soon-Yi blew out a long hard breath. "You two better be nice to him or so help, I'll dislocate both of your shoulders on each of you! Haoyu is a very sweet boy and I'm not having either of you be mean to him only because of your stupid, boyish jealousy. Now stop gawking at her like a bunch of weirdos and actually meet Haoyu."
Soon- Yi shot us a glare and made her way to Haoyu and Bridget, pulling up a desk to join in on their conversation. "Well she has a point," I say, "Maybe we should meet him. Maybe to our luck, he has no interest in Princess."
Jong-Dae bit his lip. "I sure hope not," He responded, "Though I wouldn't be surprised if he is. They' can relate to each other better like you said and plus, she's just downright gorgeous."
I really couldn't argue with him there. She's actually one of the most beautiful girls I have ever seen. Not only does she have the looks, but she also has an amazing and caring personality that's just so hard for someone to hate. I know that Chae-Na only hated her because of me, and the other girls only hated her for a short time because of Chae-Na's false rumor that she made up about Princess that she doid sexual favors. That only lead Bridget to getting sexiually harrased by our peers and ultimately assualted by Chae-Na herself. That whole ordeal, even though it only lasted for a short time, is still something that I completely blame myself for. Because it was indeed my fault. To be honest with myself and her, the least I can do is be nice to Haoyu, even though he's a huge risk of me loosing her full heart. If Jong-Dae wasn't already a threat, then Haoyu definetly is a bigger one. It's a huge pain in my ass. However, it's a huge pain that I am willing to put up with. But only for her.
"So what do we even say to him? We're just approaching him for the first time. I don't even know what to say to him. Especially since I view him as somewhat of a threat to one of us getting Bridget to choose one of us."
"How about masking your threatened feeling and saying hello, you introverted giraffe."
"Try a better insult Half-Pint."
"Oh shut up, Lamp Post."
