"Don't judge"

You've all heard the saying "don't judge", it's pretty popular these days.

Pretty much most of society has decided that judging a person is wrong! But is it?

If I did not judge my fellow Christians, how would I point out their mistakes? The bible says to call out other believers if they do something wrong. So if I am not judging a person, I am basically letting them keep sinning. I am being selfish because I have not told them that what they are doing is wrong. Perhaps, in our world today, the reason why our younger generation is so bad, is because we do not judge them as we should. If you do not judge someone, they will be free of scorn to do a wide variety of bad things (morally, legally and spiritually bad).

So, going against popular culture, is it really okay to say "don't judge"?

In my opinion, there are some things that really shouldn't be judged (how a person looks, is an example). But actions and words are for sure supposed to be judged!

The term for judgement in the bible is not the same as our judgement in modern days. The judgement in the bible is God's judgement and when it says "do not judge" it means "do not condemn!" for only God can condemn. But "judgement" these days is basically having a bad opinion about someone or something. We want to "keep the peace" and "not hurt peoples feelings". But we need to reach out and "judge" other Christians' sins.

I hope I explained this well enough.

John 7:24

Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.

Matthew 18:15-17

If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.

2 Corinthians 5:12-13

For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? God judges those outside. "Purge the evil person from among you."

Heavenly Father,

We are all sinners. I accept and confess my sins to you, laying myself down at Your Holy feet. Please guide my footsteps, Father, and show me how to show Your love everyday of my life. Help me be the proof of Your love. Give me eyes too see the sin of my brothers and sisters in Christ. And please give me the courage to call them out and help them correct their sin. Please open my blind eyes to those who need help. Thank You for Saving me. Thank You for this day, my family and the food we eat.
