After I got Brielle to go to sleep, I went downstairs and to the kitchen, where Briana was with the boys. I admired the way she was with the kids, especially considering she didn't want any.
"Is she asleep?" Bri asked.
She nodded and continued to do whatever she was doing.
"Uncle Blake, Auntie made cookies," KJ said.
I smirked and walked up behind Bri, "I love your aunt's cookies."
I kissed the back of her neck, making her shiver a little, then she glared at me.
"You ain't slick, nigga," she said so only I could hear her.
I chuckled and winked at her before I pinched her butt.
"Blake, stop," she whined, hitting me in the chest.
"That's not what you were saying last night. 'Oh, Blake, don't stop. Unh, Daddy, go deeper,'" I said, mocking her.
She slowly turned her head to look at me, then she started laughing a little.
"Shut the fuck up."
Ford gasped then giggled, "Bweedy...that's a bad word."
"I know, sweetie, but sometimes your dad gets on my nerves, and he makes me say bad things."
I chuckled and got the jar off the top of the refrigerator, "we made you a swear jar."
She looked down at it and raised her eyebrow, then looked up at me.
"You niggas are tryna make me go broke," she mumbled, "and what exactly is considered a 'swear?'"
"Well, there's the obvious ones," I stated, "you can't say hoe, the 'C' word, nigga --"
"I might as well not even talk," she said a little disgusted, "does this go for you too?"
I shook my head, "nope, just you. And every time you do cuss, you gotta put a dollar in."
She reached into her pocket, pulled out a dollar and put it in the jar. "This is bullshit."
I laughed and kissed her forehead. Something tells me this jar might be full before the week is over.
"Maybe you'll learn not to cuss so much," I said as the doorbell rang, "especially in front of the kids."
She pulled another dollar out of her pocket and put it in the jar, "just go answer the got damn door."
I laughed again, then went to see who was at the door. It was a mailman, and he handed me an envelope and left.
On the way back to the kitchen, I opened the envelope, but I couldn't believe what I was looking at. Briana & I were getting sued by someone named Kelvon Walker. I don't even know who that is.
"Babe, who's Kelvon Walker?"
She dropped the spatula she was holding and turned to face me. I'm guessing she knows.
"Boys, can you go in the living room?" she said, "I need to talk to Blake."
They did as they were told, and she ran her hand through her hair. He must be someone serious if he's making her all jittery like this.
"Kelvon is KJ's dad."
"...I thought KJ's dad was dead?"
"Nah, just a deadbeat," she said, getting progressively angrier, "what does he want?"
I looked at the letter again, then looked up at her slowly. This can not be happening.
"He wants custody of KJ..."
I, for some reason, flinched a little when she screamed. I've never been afraid of Briana until now. She may only be five foot five, but she's scary as hell.
I handed her the letter, she looked over it, then threw it on the ground.
"He doesn't know how to take care of a fucking child!" she shouted, pacing the kitchen floor.
Any other time I would make a joke about her swearing, but she's a little too pissed right now.
"Ya know he's only seen KJ one time since he's been born! One time!"
"How long ago was it?" I asked curiously.
"When he was one," she scoffed, "he was so strung out on drugs, he took the boy to a crack house and burned him with a crack pipe."
Did I just hear that correctly? How the hell do you bu-- I'm not even gonna dwell on that right now.
"He didn't even want KJ," she started crying, "he told Shaierra to get an abortion, so why the hell does he want him now?!"
I pulled her into a hug and kissed the top of her head. I never thought we would have to go through this.
"Blake, we can't let him take KJ away from us," she cried into my chest.
I kissed the top of her head again and rubbed her back comfortingly. "Don't worry, baby. We won't let that happen."
