"He's just not your type?" I was curious to know, but she shook her head,
"No, it's not that, don't get me wrong he's very handsome and all, but I just don't feel anything for him. I don't know, but I rarely ever like people, as in crushing on them. Yeah sure I find them attractive, but never anything further."
"Hm." I paused and she looked at me waiting for me to speak again. "Do you want to go out with him, like potentially?" I asked, unsure if I really wanted the answer.
Lauren took a minute before responding,
"I don't know, I just don't think I want to get into anything romantically with anyone right now. Not saying I'm strictly single, I just don't feel anything with people...."
I wasn't sure what she meant by that. Did she mean 'people' as in other guys? Or as in 'everyone'. I didn't want to take the chance to find out. More like I was too scared to, so I just nodded my head and changed the subject.
~~~~~~~~
Honestly, I can't even be mad. I had the chance to tell her and now it was too late. Getting over this would suck.
"Hello Darling," Lauren sang in her British accent. I laughed,
"What up dawg-" She laughed back.
"Alright y'all, I hope you didn't forget about the test that is today?" Mrs. Jackson said, catching our attention. The class groaned and muttered in response. I saw Lauren's eyes get wide on the side of me. Personally, I wasn't really worried, it's only the first test and she wasn't teaching anything I didn't already know
"Oh god, I forgot about this test" she cursed herself under her breath.
"It's okay, you'll be fine. I'll help you if you need it," I reassured her.
Giving me a toothless smile, Lauren nodded and mouthed 'thank you' while Mrs. Jackson passed out the papers.
As we were leaving class, there he was again, coming up to her. I mentally rolled my eyes wishing he'd just pick someone else to crush on. But who was I kidding, more than half the boys in our grade have a crush on Lauren and hell I don't blame them.
We were linked arm and arm as he spoke "Hey there pretty girl." The green eyes girl smiled,
"Hey Dylan-"
"You going somewhere for lunch." He looked between the two of us and she looked at me as if she wanted to know the same thing,
"Uh, yeah I think so," I spoke.
"Okay well before you guys head out, Lauren I need to show you something..."
"Oh gosh what is it? Right now?"
"Yeah it can't wait, come on." Dylan took her free hand and pulled us along, her other arm still linked to mine.
"This better not be some crap Dylan," Lauren warned.
"I promise you'll like it," the blue eyes boy assured.
I had a feeling what he was about to do, but I really didn't want to be right. We walked into the gym and it was a bit crowded. People turned their attention to us as we entered and cleared a path. I unlinked my arm from Lauren once I figured what was going on. She kept walking on as Dylan pulled her hand along while I mixed myself into the crowd.
There was a huge sign held up by the rest of the football players, which were Dylan's friends, that said 'HOMECOMING?' As she read the sign another player walked up to them with flowers and chocolate and handed them to Dylan. He then turned to Lauren and handed them out to her as he said "Lauren, will you be my date to the Homecoming Dance"
