Relief swelled my brain, and I sighed heavily, smiling to myself a little.
The Toddler looked at me oddly, and began pointing to me, yelling over to his mom in a toddler typical voice, "Mama? Mama! This lady is super fast! I think she's a superhero!"
The people around us, staring at the scene had noticed me too and began muttering over to each other.
"Did you see that?" "Yeah... did she just...?"
"What the heck..."
"Who is she? Did you see that freakish speed?" "Yeah! I didn't even see her move at first!"
That was all I had heard before I began running off with the bags of cat treats, back home.
I could feel tears swelling beneath my eyelids, and a sense of fear had twisted in my stomach as I dreaded the fact they had seen me.
This stupid speed of mine... stupid... I had repeated to myself over a hundred times before arriving back at my house, panting.
I pushed the keypad code in, 2457, pushed the door open, removed my shoes, dropped the bags on the floor, and slumped down against the wall.
I buried my face in my palms, as I couldn't suppress the memories of shame, weird looks, and bullying I had received as a kid from the speed that I had used.
The feeling of nobody wanting to be near me, the feeling of being purposefully shunned...
You'd think my unnatural speed would get me better attention. But I got quite the opposite.
Whether it was influenced by parents, teachers, or bullies, it only brought me the wrong attention.
After a minute of just sitting there in silence, I forced myself to my feet and carried the bags of cat treats over to the other side of the living room.
I glanced around, noticing that the cats weren't there. "Kitties?" I called out once, and stood in silence for a minute, waiting to hear the little pats of their feet on the floor.
Nothing.
I shrugged, thinking they were just playing around somewhere in the neighborhood.
I continued organizing the cat treats, and humming to myself a tune that had been stuck in my head for the past couple of days.

Not long after I finished cleaning the kitchen for my still-nowhere-to-be-found aunt, I heard the cat's familiar meows, right out one of the opened windows near the other side of the living room, opposite the kitchen.
I stood up to go open the window wider for them to come inside. As soon as the window was all the way open, the brown cat leaped into my arm, climbing onto my shoulder, with the other two cats following behind.
"Hey there." I giggled, as the brown cat meowed into my ear. I closed up the window, and the cats crept down from my arms, and onto the floor, meowing.
I was about to give them some of the new treats but stopped abruptly when I noticed their strange behavior.
"What's wrong?" I bent down to themand held my hand out. But unlike the usual, the cats didn't react by nuzzling into my palm.
Instead, they meowed with the intent of gaining my full attention, and started walking toward the door. I furrowed my eyebrows at them. They kept looking back at me, from the door, to me again, as if they wanted me to come along.
I stood up, put my shoes on, opened the front door, and followed behind them, as they led in front of me.
