After a few more hours of driving, we made it back into the same state as Crescent Moon territory. Liam and I were both in a good mood, the claim on my neck stinging pleasantly.

Of course, Brooke was the first once to notice. Right when we got out of the car to get gas at a gas station, Brooke attacked me.

"Whoa whoa whoa," I said, trying to regain my balance. "Brooke, easy. I'm just regaining my land legs."

"HE CLAIMED YOU!" Brooke shrieked.

I winced. She could really have a high pitch voice sometimes. Hurts even more than a dog whistle.

"Well, yeah," I said.

"Why?" she demanded.

"Cuz we're mates," I said obviously.

She narrowed her eyes at me. "This is the second time you've waited to tell me something big. When you're pregnant I better be the first one to know before you even know yourself. That's the only way to make up for this."

"Sorry?" I offered.

"You should be."

Josh laughed and put his arm around Brooke. "Congrats, guys. About time you two finally got together."

"Hey," Liam protested. "Don't say that like you've waited as long as Brooke has. You've only been here for, like, a month."

"A month to know everything," Josh said.

"Whatever," Liam said. "Come on, let's go pay for this gas."

Liam kissed me before he left, and I smiled. It was nice finally being mates with Liam. I waited long enough, and I finally got my reward. It was worth the wait.

"So, what are you gonna do when we get back?" Brooke asked.

I frowned. "What do you mean?"

"Well, we've been gone for like a week," she said. "What are you going to do about Tristan and Tyler?"

"Tyler and I have made peace," I said. "He agreed to move on and find somebody else, since I made him realize he didn't want to chase somebody who was already caught for the rest of his life. We've agreed to be allies, since our packs are so close."

"Okay, what about Tristan then?"

"Tristan I can handle. My eighteenth birthday is soon, so he'll be forced to step down as Alpha. It won't be long before he is able to be kicked out of the pack. The only reason my mom didn't kick him out is because she can't banish him while he's Alpha."

"What about Kelly? She's technically next in line for the title."

"Kelly can't take over the Alpha position until she's found her mate. Since she's too busy sleeping around and hasn't found her mate yet, the title falls to me. Unless Kelly finds her mate before Liam or I turn eighteen, then I'm the Alpha."

"And if she does find her mate?"

"She won't take the title seriously. She has no idea how to be a Luna, and the pack will hate her. They'll turn to me for guidance, and I'll have to step up to take care of the pack."

"Do you think Liam will make a good Alpha?"

I nodded. "Yeah, he will. He's been around me long enough to know how things work. And if he struggles, I'll be there to help him. And you'll be the Beta, so we won't have any trouble."

Brooke smiled. "Let's just hope everything goes as planned."

"It will. I promise."

The boys came back, and we continued driving. Finally, after four more hours, we were back in Crescent Moon territory. I was slightly nervous about our return, as Tristan had no doubt heard about our encounter with Derek. He was going to be livid.
