Rhaella's pov
I slowly open my eyes and groan as my head pounds. I sit up on the cold stone floor and look around to see myself in a stone room with a small barred window and a door with bars on it. I quickly stand up and walk over to the small window. My eyes widen, seeing the familiar sight of King's Landing outside of the small window.
"Ah, you're finally awake." The familiar voice of Alicent says from the opposite side of the small barred up door. I look over at her and rage overtakes my body at the sight of the woman. "I'm sorry for your loss, Rhaella. I remember when I lost my mother. It was the worst pain I've ever gone through in my life." Alicent says and my mouth drops open and tears fill my eyes as I remember what happened before I passed out.
"I must say that was quite the display you put on. A Targaryen shooting fire from her hands. No one has ever seen anything like that before." Alicent says and I shake my head as my emotions overwhelm me. "Where's Aemond?" I ask quietly. "I understand your emotions took over you, but if all Targaryen's can do that, then -" Alicent continues, ignoring me. "Where is Aemond?" I ask in a harsh tone as my tears begin to fall.
"Rhaella?" I hear Aemond's familiar voice call out as he appears beside Alicent. "Open the door." Aemond commands as he attempts to open the cell door. "We don't know how dangerous she is." Alicent whispers to her son. "She is not dangerous. She's scared. She just lost her mother she does not need to be alone." Aemond explains to his mother. "I will not put your life at risk just to make her or yourself feel better." Alicent says with a glare.
My tears silently fall as I slide to the floor in the corner of the small cell. "Open the door!" Aemond yells as he slams his fist against the wall. "Escort Prince Aemond to his chambers." Alicent commands the guards. "Get your hands off of me!" Aemond yells at the guards. "She doesn't need to be in a cell!" Aemond yells as my tears continue to fall. Alicent follows after the guards and her son and I am left with two guards outside of my cell. I curl my knees into my chest and rock back and forth.
I look down at my hands to see them glowing a dim orange. I close my eyes to try and remember what happened on the battlefield. I remember my mother's death and what she told me. My eyes snap open, remembering my mother saying that she wanted Jace and I to rule together, meaning Jace and I have the only true claim to the throne.
Tears swell in my eyes again, knowing that I will never see my mother again. I will never feel her warm touch or hear her soothing voice. A sob escapes my lips as the loss of so many people that I care about in a week's period overtakes me. First my grandfather, then Luke and Arrax, then Caraxes, and now my mother. My sobs echo through the prison cell as rage overtakes my body. "It should have been me." I whisper to myself as I continue to rock back and forth.
"IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ME!" I scream out in agony. And in that exact moment, I vow to myself and everyone that I have lost that I will not stop until everyone that has wronged my family is dead. I will not stop until I am on the Iron Throne.
