"Is it next time yet?" Eragon asked impatiently after five minutes of silence.
Andy coughed, "Yes, Neet is gonna need lots of flex tape for that."
"You don't have many friends do you?" Eragon said, more of a statement than a question.
Andy shook his head, "Nope, just you."
Eragon sighed and moved on, "Back to the dragons, where did you get yours?"
Andy used bullshit! "Found the egg while gathering wood for arrows, it was half buried in a river." It's super effective!
[Nice cover story]
Eragon nodded, "Mine appeared in a blaze of fire while I was hunting, scared off the deer."
"Metal as hell man. Well at any rate, I'm not really sure what to do with mine, dragons grow super fast so I wont be able to keep her here for long." Andy fed his new dragon some more jerky as he spoke, she was very happy.
Eragon extended his hand to the silver dragon and retracted it when she snapped at him. "Mine has been living in the woods for a while now, recently it started talking in my head which is weird."
Andy shrugged, "Oh yeah dragons do that, but usually only with their rider."
Eragon scratched his head absently, "It's so weird, I actually came to town to ask Brom about names, since he has a lot of knowledge of dragons. I stopped by to say hi on my way there."
Andy saw a golden opportunity. "Cool, mind if I tag along?"
"Sure, could help you name yours." Eragon said already on his way to the door.
---Timeskip brought to you by Andy bugging Eragon---
"Dragon names?" Brom asked, the old man asked, drawing on his pipe.
Andy nodded, deciding to speed things up, "Yeah, I need help naming mine, so does Eragon."
Brom froze at this before looking towards the two in bewilderment. "The two of you have dragons?"
Eragon was bewildered, betrayed even. "I thought we agreed to secrecy!"
Andy shrugged him off, "Oh come on, Brom is cool."
Brom scratched his chin, before seeming to come to a decision. "I do indeed know a number of dragon names, and I will share them with you if you will allow me to meet these dragons."
"Deal!" Andy said with no hesitation.
Eragon just facepalmed. "I am starting to see why you have no friends."
Andy crossed his arms and sat back in his chair, "Rude."
---Big boy timeskip brought to you by a dragon growth time lapse---
About two months after Brom learned about the dragons Andy was just vibing on the back of Ryuu... oh yeah he named her Ryuu by the way. Normally Eragon and Brom would have left the town ages ago but apparently killing the Ra'zac meant they had no reason to. Meanwhile Andy had just one thing on his mind... "I want a sword"
Ryuu snorted, Well then make one, or buy one. You have options.
Andy sighed and pulled his chunk of starmetal out of his inventory to inspect it. "Yeah but we won't get to the blacksmith that can make a sword with these materials for ages."
Ryuu rolled over, letting out a low rumble like a laugh. Then suffer.
Andy wormed his way out from under his dragon that had just rolled over on top of him. "Fuck you I'm bored"
[You could learn magic from Brom]
Andy flopped onto the grass with a frustrated sigh. "He refuses to teach us though, I mean I'm learning swordsmanship from him and I'm intermediate now but he hasn't even mentioned magic yet."
[because you haven't asked yet]
Andy sat up at that, "Wait, I just have to ask?"
[Yeah bro]
Dumbass
Andy got up and brushed himself off, "I hate you both."
Andy and Ryuu kept bickering while Brom approached for the next training session. Seeing the two of them arguing made him chuckle. "It seems that you two are getting along well, yes?"
Andy gasped for air as Ryuu was holding him down playfully, "Trying to at least!"
Ryuu let Andy up and Brom approached, "Are you ready for our next session?"
Andy shook his head, "Actually I was wondering when you were gonna teach me magic."
Brom tapped his chin, "Hmm, magic requires the use of an ancient language which is difficult to learn. I would have to first teach you words in this language and then you would need to learn to reach into yourself and pull out the energy to cast the spell."
Andy just waited for him to finish talking, "I've already learned the language, please just teach me how to access the magic."
Brom sighed, deciding to teach the young man something of humility, "I doubt you have learned the language but very well. You must focus on yourself, feel every part of your body and sense the power within your body. Then you pull on this power while speaking a word in the ancient language."
Andy sat and focused on himself. He quickly lost track of time, not even noticing Brom laving and the sun setting. Eventually he was able to find and draw upon the power Brom spoke of. He got a grip on it and drew upon it, bringing it forth. Andy chose his word and spoke, "BURN!"
The world heard and obeyed, the very laws of physics bowed to the true word of burning, catching a nearby tree on fire.
{Congratulations, you've learned "Command Magic" , anything you say will happen, so long as your intent is clear, and your mana is strong enough.}
Andy blinked twice, rubbed his eyes and read the message again, "Huh?"
Wait, according to this, he doesn't need a specific language, he just needs to say something and it happens... he wasted so much money on that book. Andy took a deep breath, then when his frustration reached its peak, "FUCKING FUCKITY FUCK HELL!"
[You good?]
Andy took a deep breath, let it out and collected himself, "Yeah just needed to get that out."
Andy took a moment to think over the possibilities, sitting comfortably against Ryuu. "Wait since I don't exactly use the same magic does that mean wards don't work against my spells?"
Ryuu flicked her tail in mild annoyance at his dumb questions. That would be dumb, just because you have a different magic doesn't mean you can automatically bypass wards.
[Technically no, but it does make it harder for people to block them]
"Could I potentially kill Galbatorix at this point?" Andy asked sarcastically.
[...]
The silence was beginning to bother Andy, "System? Bro?" Andy asked, somewhat worried.
{New Quest: Kill the mad king.
Reward: Transformation magic for Ryuu, and the great elven blacksmith will make you a sword.
Penalty: Enslavement the hands of the mad king}
"Holy shit I can? Now how to get there anyways?" Andy asked himself, as well as the two voices in his head.
Stood and stretched her wings out. Just ride me, you are a dragon rider.
Andy shrugged, "OK, phrasing, but that works. Brom made us a saddle to use, so let's go!"
And so the duo (Trio?) left to kill Galbatorix, the mad king. Completely forgetting about their friends they left behind.
