No. This had to be a joke, a lie, anything. I thought desperately as my very own father stepped closer to me, his eyes void of emotion and his lips frozen in a haunting grin. "Why?" I whispered, the feeling of his betrayal lingering heavily within my voice.

"Why not?" my father grinned back with malice as he stepped forwards and stroked my cheek. "Oh dear daughter, you don't know anything do you?" he continued almost wistfully as his hand fell to his side.

I choked back a sob as I looked up at him, confusion clouding my thoughts as I stood unmoving before him. "Daddy?" I question him again as he looked away.

He didn't respond as he turned his attention towards Shayna, his gaze travelling over her appreciatively as he smiled. "Who's you're little friend?" he asked as he stepped towards her with his hands twitching at his sides.

"M-my names Shayna" she stuttered as she stumbled away from his grasp.

My dad smiled at her, his yellowed teeth glinting sadistically in the darkness as his hand latched on the her forearm. Shayna let out a week scream as he dragged her towards him.

A deep laugh rumbled through his body as he stroked her face, wiping away the tears that formed and trailed delicately down her pallid cheeks.

"Why are you doing this?" I screamed as I tried to pry her from his tightening grasps unsuccessfully.

"Why not?" my father repeated as he withdrew from Shayna, letting her crumple to the ground before him as he turned on me.

His hands twisted around my throat, compressing my oesophagus as his grasp slowly tightened. I could feel the burning intensify as I struggled to breathe, the air tearing through my throat in horrifying gasps.

Tears welled in my eyes as I stared up at him, my eyelids fluttering closed as darkness swam in the corners of my vision.

"Why?" I rasped out, my voice barely a whisper as I struggled to stay conscious.

"Why not?" he laughed as I fell and the darkness wrapped it's bony fingers around me, taking me captive as I drowned in it's presence.
