Alec
My chauffeur, Max, comes to a halt in front of Grayson House, a classic ornamentation with massive glass walls, reaching a maximum of forty-five floors in the center of Los Angeles. I have to admit that I love this city because it has endless possibilities and unquestionably has it all. My company, ACG, and Grayson Enterprises are proof of what LA offers, especially Grayson owning million-dollar properties and developments in Los Angeles.
The city is perfect and delivers easy access to the global market, tons of space to grow, and more land to develop, not to mention the stunning weather all year round and the closeness to the beach. Having traveled all over the US for business and experiencing the different cities, none come close to LA.
"I'll give you a buzz as soon as I'm done," I inform Max before climbing out of the car.
I head for the main entrance, ascending a few steps, and my eyes lock in on the enormous GRAYSON HOUSE imprint on the entrance canopy above the automated glass doors. A smile tugs on the corner of my lips, and my chest swells with pride, knowing within a year, I am the CEO at Grayson Enterprises and walking into this building every day. The responsibility will be hefty, and I will have to cut back on my social life if I want to make my dad proud and continue the Grayson legacy.
With a confident strut and swagger, I stride into Grayson House, and Jim, the security guard at the entrance, greets me with a toothy grin, "Good afternoon, Alec. It's good to see you."
"Afternoon, Jim," I mirror his smile. "The same here. How's the family?"
"They're doing great. My son's getting married next month."
"That's great. Congratulations," I say, but I notice a glint of mischief on Jim's face, and I have a good idea of what he is about to say next.
"Thanks, Alec. By the way," Jim clears his throat. And here it comes. "I'm still waiting for an invitation to your wedding."
You're so damn predictable, Jim.
"Well... you've known me long enough, and the answer to that question." I chuckle. "If I didn't know better, I'd say my mom put you up to this."
"When you meet the right woman, you'll fall hard and there's no turning back from there," he smirks.
"Wishful thinking. That woman doesn't exist."
"Yeah, you'll eat those words one day, Mr. Casanova," he chuckles.
"We'll see about that. I'll send you on an all-expenses-paid holiday if that happens," I respond cockily. "See you later," I say over my shoulder, trying to get away from him before he starts a whole lecture.
Jim has been working at Grayson since I was a kid and was always the friendly face around here. He was always animated and ecstatic to see me when my dad brought me along, unlike the pretentious jerks in the offices.
I peruse the foyer quickly, striding toward the elevator. Somehow, I am always in awe of the eye-catching natural stone architectural designs, the elegant water feature, and the back-lit installation of the GRAYSON logo on the wall behind the reception desk. Whenever I visit my dad, I am in utter admiration of his unique taste and the spectacular craftsmanship of the architects. He definitely made the right move to give the foyer a facelift.
I ride the elevator to the executive floor. When the doors slide open, I'm greeted by the warm, stylish layout that perfectly embodies the company's tone, blending the white, grey, and black hues in harmonious balance. Strolling past the signature curved glass offices with their expansive interiors and exteriors, I admire the bold, visionary design that breaks away from the monotony of typical long double-loaded corridors.
