Monica had managed to sneak a few pregnancy tests into the bunkhouse for Elisabeth to take, just in case something had unexpectedly happened.

The wrangler kept them hidden as to not raise any questions with Walker or any of the other males that occupied the bunkhouse.

She slid into the barn, opening Lady's stall door and joining the mare on the floor, not caring about the shavings that would soon collect on her clothes.

She hadn't taken the tests, not feeling the need to do so because of her recent-ish period, but she kept one in the pocket of her jacket just in case she had an urge.

"Fuckin' hell... I can't be a mom." She murmured to the horse.

Lady let out a long sigh as she lowered her head, silently asking for the woman to scratch her ears.

"Walker and I haven't ever talked about kids, or marriage for that matter." She understood the cue and ran her fingers through the Lady's forelock, scratching around her ears.

The mare only snorted.

"I doubt he'd be angry if I actually was pregnant but... then again, I don't know for sure how he'd react."

Lady only nickered and sat up a bit to turn her head.

Elisabeth stopped scratching the mare's ears to see what she was doing.

The horse leaned into Elisabeth's frame, pressing her nose against the woman's lower stomach.

"Don't do that, you're scaring me." She spoke, gently shooing the mare away from her belly.

The sound of footsteps on the hard stable floor made Elisabeth fall silent.

"Hello? Anyone in here?" A voice she recognized instantly echoed throughout the barn.

It was Jamie.

She couldn't help but feel the need to stay hidden from him. She knew that his feelings for her hadn't changed at all since the night Walker and Ryan beat him half to death.

Elisabeth bit the inside of her lower lip, contemplating her next move.

She decided to go against her gut and stood up and dusted herself off, acting like she had been doing something.

"Oh, hey! Did you not hear me?" Jamie perked up, approaching the stall door.

"Huh? Oh, guess not... what's up?"

"I was looking for you, actually."

Her chest tightened at his words. "Oh... why's that?"

"Just wanted to talk to you... haven't seen you much." He spoke softly, sliding his hands into his pockets.

"I've been around... just haven't been coming up to the house, that's all."

"Ah, I gotcha. So, there's this new bar in town, and-"

Elisabeth cut him off. "I'm gonna stop you right there. Bars, eh, they're ok. Bars, plus you, absolutely not. Last time you and I were at a bar, was when Walker was still new here. Y'know, the real tall, handsome fella that damn near beat you to death with my cousin. That one."

Jamie opened his mouth to speak but she continued.

"Well, in case you live under a rock, Walker and I are together. As in I am his, and he is mine. So no, Jamie, I will not go and sample God knows whatever kinda wine you like at this new bar in town."

Jamie wrinkled up his nose and walked off in a huff, leaving Elisabeth satisfied.

"Men, am I right?" She murmured, looking down at her mare.
