When I opened my eyes, my vision was still blurry. After blinking a few times, my ears tuned into the familiar sound of Draco's voice, and I couldn't help but wince at the volume in which he was speaking.

"My father will be hearing about this!" Draco nearly yelled. "How could you think that bringing a Peruvian Vipertooth to this tournament, and allowing students you claim to care about near it, was a good idea?"

"Mr. Malfoy, please." Dumbledore spoke softly, attempting to calm Draco down.

"I mean, what did you think was going to happen?" Draco pressed sarcastically. "That the Vipertooth wouldn't want to take a chunk out of the person trying to take its egg?"

"That's enough, Mr. Malfoy." Snape's voice sounded. I turned my head toward him, finding him right beside my bed, watching Draco pace across from him.

"I'll tell you what's enough." Draco hissed, glaring at Dumbledore.

"Draco." I croaked. "Please shut up. Your yelling really isn't helping this headache that I have."

"Mona!" Draco cheered, looking relieved as he stood beside my bed.

"Draco, please." I whined, reaching up and clutching my head. "Can I have some water, please?"

"Here, Mona." Draco whispered, holding a glass of cool water to my lips. I drank the water greedily, feeling the headache subside slightly.

"Thank you." I breathed, laying back down against the bed. "What happened?"

"Well, you won the first task." Draco scoffed, shooting another glare at Dumbledore. "Rightfully so, after nearly losing your arm."

"Still no feeling." I whispered, remembering the events prior to my waking up in the hospital.

"You won't have feeling for a while." Madam Pomfrey said, walking over to my bedside. She offered me a caring smile before continuing on. "Your eyesight should return to normal by tonight, and by the sounds of it, the ringing in your ears has stopped. You're quite lucky to be keeping that arm, Miss Littlesea. Had you not immobilized the dragon when you did, that might not have been the case."

"Dangerous." Draco hissed, still glaring at Dumbledore.

"The feeling will come back in a few weeks, two minimum." Madam Pomfrey continued, gently helping me into a sitting position. "Until then, you'll have to wear a sling, and have someone write for you."

"There's no need for her to write." Snape spoke, keeping his concerned gaze on me. "She's already finished this term's coursework. She only needs to participate in her classes."

"Right." Madam Pomfrey nodded, handing me a cup of purple liquid. "Drink this; it should help with your headache. As soon as that goes away, you're free to go. See me if you want to do anything about those scars; I have a potion for that."

"Thank you." I smiled gratefully, drinking the contents of the cup she handed me.

"You're welcome, dear." She smiled, taking the empty cup from my hands and leaving my bedside.

"Whose bright idea was it to put me in an arena with a Peruvian Vipertooth?" I questioned, looking around at the three concerned faces.

"I'm afraid I had no say in which dragons were brought over." Dumbledore expressed with a head shake.

"It's your school!" Draco started up again, folding his arms across his chest. "You should have a say in which potentially deadly creatures make it onto your grounds!"

"Hogwarts is only a host for the Triwizard Tournament." Dumbledore argued. "The Ministry outranks even me, Mr. Malfoy. They were the ones that approved the use of those dragons."

"It's alright, Professor." I reassured. "I know it wasn't your decision."

"No, it's not okay, Mona!" Draco protested. "You're here without feeling in your right arm because Dumbledore allowed for a deadly dragon to be brought to his school!"

"If you're going to keep complaining about it, I'd prefer it if you left." I told him. "I'm going to make a full recovery, and Dumbledore already said he had no say in which dragons were brought here."

"Sorry." Draco muttered, sitting quietly beside me.

"Right." Dumbledore nodded, standing. "The dragon egg has been given to your head of house, and will be given to you once you leave here."

"Thank you." I smiled, watching the headmaster exit the hospital wing.

"Miss Littlesea, I'm fully aware of your advanced education, but perhaps this tournament is a little more than you can handle at the moment." Snape said, a look of concern seemingly etched onto his face.

"With all due respect, Professor, I can handle this." I told him confidently. "Not only did I pick one of the most deadly dragons, I beat it. And I did it better than Potter."

"If you say so." Snape nodded.

"Anyway," I continued, swinging my legs over the bed. "Mr. Crouch said that when my name came out of the goblet, I had no choice but to participate in the tournament."

"Ready to go?" Draco asked, standing up and helping me stand. I stood shakily beside me, taking a step forward and nearly collapsing. "Relax for a moment, Mona."

"No, I'd like to get changed and back to the common room." I shook my head.

"Mr. Malfoy will take this for you." Snape announced, handing Draco the golden egg I'd nearly died for.

"Thank you." I smiled graciously, earning a small smile in return.

"If you leave now, you'll make it to the Great Hall in time for dinner." Snape informed, turning on his heel and stalking out of the hospital wing.

"You don't have to do the next task, Mona." Draco said, wrapping an arm around my waist to support me as we left the hospital wing. "In fact, Crabbe, Goyle, and me, we'd actually prefer it if you didn't."

"Now, Draco." I smirked. "Where's the fun in letting Potter win?"
