Andy watched as Fury took out a picture of Pierce, staring down at it as if in deep thought. He gave a small scoff. "This man declined a Nobel Peace Prize. He said that peace wasn't an achievement, it was a responsibility. You see, it's these kind of things that give me trust issues." He said, his voice breaking the silence that had ensued upon Andy's return. Andrea gave a small smile at his words and took the photo from him, staring down at Pierce.
Andy pursed her lip at the sight, her blood seeming to boil as she stared down at the photo. She could barely stand to look at him, there was no end to her hatred for the man and anyone else involved with HYDRA. All this time he'd been a part of the wretched organization and she had no idea. Not even the slightest clue that this man, this seemingly normal man, was a part of the same group of people who had destroyed her life.
"We need to stop that launch." She declared, her voice firm as she finally tore her gaze away. She placed the photo back on the table, turning her eyes to Fury. "Well, the council isn't exactly answering my phone calls anymore." The Director replied, his tone sarcastic. Andy chuckled quietly before crossing her arms and leaning back in her chair. She then watched as Hill pulled out a briefcase, revealing three identical microchips.
"What are those?" Sam questioned, staring over at microchips in confusion. Andrea couldn't help but feel the slightest bit curious as well, wondering what the items were for and what use they would have. "When the heli-carriers reach three thousand feet," Hill began, her voice capturing everyone's attention as the group realized that this was the plan they had been waiting for.
"They'll triangulate with Insight satellites which will make them fully weaponized. We need to breach those Carriers and replace their targeting blades with our own." She finished, to which Andrea uncrossed her arms and leaned forwards. "Do we need a single chip or..." The brunette trailed off, leaving the question hanging in mid-air. Agent Hill shook her head.
"No, one chip won't do it. We need all Carriers linked with these microchips for this to work. If even one of them remains operational, a whole lot of people are going to die." Andrea slowly nodded, leaning back once more and heaving a sigh as she took in this information. This mission put so much weight on her shoulders and she was willing to bear it all if she had to. Purely for the sake of innocent people who didn't deserve to die.
"We have to assume that everyone on those heli-carriers are HYDRA. We need to get past them, switch those server blades and maybe, maybe we can salvage-" Andy was quick to cut Fury off once she realized what he was getting at. "No, we're not salvaging anything." She snapped, her tone sharp and firm as she held Fury's gaze. There was no way she was going to back down from this.
HYDRA had manifested itself within S.H.I.E.L.D for years. There was no way to tell who was loyal to which organization anymore and Andy refused to take that chance. She refused to allow HYDRA the possibility of not only destroying her life again, but the life of everyone around her as well. It was too big of a risk.
"We're not just taking down the Carriers, Fury. We're taking down S.H.I.E.L.D. too." Steve added, his words showing his siding with Andrea on the topic. She shot the blond a grateful smile. "S.H.I.E.L.D had nothing to do with this." Fury argued and Andy had to refrain from scoffing. It didn't change the fact that HYDRA still managed to comprise the entirety of S.H.I.E.L.D.
"No, you gave us this mission and this is how it ends. S.H.I.E.L.D has everything to do with this because it was HYDRA's plan all along. S.H.I.E.L.D has been compromised, you said so yourself. HYDRA grew right under your noses and you never even noticed. Who's to say that, if you did salvage S.H.I.E.L.D, that HYDRA won't just infest itself back into the system. I refuse to take that chance." Andrea said, her tone laced with venom and finality.
