Valathore lands outside the gates of Dragonstone and I numbly climb down the ropes attached to Valathore's mount. I fall to the grassy ground as a sob escapes my lips. Daemon and Ser Erryk run toward me as I continue to sob. "Rhaella what what happened? Where's Luke?" Daemon asks as he places his hand on my shoulder. I look at him and shake my head. "Shall I tell the Queen?" Ser Erryk asks sympathetically. Daemon shakes his head and closes his eyes tightly. "She should hear it from me." Daemon says and Ser Erryk nods. "Go back to the castle. I will look after her." Daemon commands and Ser Erryk bows and walks back to the castle.
Daemon wraps me into a tight hug as I cry into his shoulder. "It's all my fault. If I would have been faster then he would still be here." I sob as Daemon runs his fingers through my hair. "Shhhh my child, this is not your fault." Daemon says as I feel his tears soak into my hair. Valathore curls his neck around Daemon and I to comfort us and to shield us from any unwanted eyes. "How?" Damon chokes out. "Vagar." I say quietly and I feel Daemon stiffen at the name. Daemon sighs and pulls my head back so he can look into my eyes. "We will get through this Rhaella." Daemon says as he wipes the tears away on my cheeks. I nod and Daemon kisses my forehead. "Let's get you inside." He says and I nod. Daemon helps me off the ground and we walk up the long staircase leading into the castle.
I walk down the familiar halls of Dragonstone but they feel so dark and gloomy without Luke here. Daemon escorts me down the hallways and we come to my chambers. Daemon gives me another hug and goes to tell my mother the news. I enter my chambers and walk over to my bed. I take my sword and dagger off my belt and throw the small dagger in my leg holster out. I take off my cloak and then fall onto my bed. A sob escapes my lips as I think about my brother. I toss and turn to try and find sleep but I keep seeing Luke every time I close my eyes.
A knock on my door interrupts my thoughts of my brother. "Enter." I say quietly. I turn to see my mother enter my chambers with tears streaming down her cheeks. We don't say anything to each other we just wrap one another in a hug and cry. "Are you alright?" My mother asks quietly. I give a small nod and she wraps her arms around me again. "I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry mother." I sob as my mother runs her fingers through my hair. "About what my darling?" She asks. "Luke." I sob out and I feel her shake her head. "This is not your fault my little dove." My mother coos as she continues to run her fingers through my hair. "I do not blame this on you darling." My mother says quietly as she kisses my forehead.
We break away as we hear a knock on my door. "Enter." My mother says. My door opens to reveal Daemon. He quickly walks over to us and wraps us in a hug. We stay like this for the next hour just crying in one another's arms.
