"Ms. Blake, your mother is here." The voice of my assistant, Rachael echoed through the speaker of my desk phone.

I let out an audible groan of frustration. "Let her know I'm in a meeting." I was alone in my office, but I didn't feel like dealing with my mother at this moment. She only visited my office when she wanted something and I was not in the mood to hear her trying to convince me of something I knew I was going to deny.

"I'll try." Rachael whispered softly and I knew my mother was hovering over her waiting for an answer.

The speaker clicked off and a moment later I heard the sound of heels against the floor inching closer to my office. A second later the door swung open revealing my mom with a frown etched onto her face.

"Damn it, Rachael." I muttered under my breathe. "Hi, mom." I greeted with a small smile.

She narrowed her eyes towards me. "Are you trying to avoid me?" She asked bluntly.

Clearly.

"No mom. I'm just trying to get caught up on some paperwork." I answered gesturing to the stack of papers on my large desk. "There are a few contracts I need to review before the end of the day."

She walked over and sat in one of the seats in front of my desk. Her light brown hair was pinned back in an elegant bun and her seemingly perfect designer dress fell to her knees.

I turned my attention back to the papers scattered in front of me. I really had to get this done today. I could feel her gaze following my every move. "What?" I looked up to meeting her dark blue eyes in annoyance.

"Nothing." She said simply and I went to turn my attention to my work when she spoke up once more. "There is a very high level meeting this afternoon and your grandfather would like you to join."

I furrowed my brows in confusion. "Don't I always join important meetings? I am the one that going to be taking over this company in the future."

She nodded slowly. "This meeting is different." She answered not diving any further in.

"Different how?" I asked with my eyes laser focused on her. How is this meeting different from any other one? It's a meeting.

She gave me a smile. "Just meet us in the board room at 3pm." Suspicion started to fill me. What is my mother up to? She stood up from her seat. "Don't be late." She warned.

"Yes ma'am." I saluted her as my attention focused back on the work laid on my desk. The sound her departing footsteps filled the office.

"Oh and make sure to wear the red lipstick the one that makes your eyes pop." Now that caught my attention. I looked up to see her grinning ear to ear before she wave and closed my office door.

No seriously, what is this lady up to?

It was 2:50pm when I glanced at the time. I closed the folder and walked over to my full length mirror that was stationed next my large floor to ceiling windows. I would love to say that I have the best office in the entire building. From my windows I was able to see beautiful sunrises, sunsets and the beaming city lights at night and right now the sunlight was shining right through lighting up the whole office.
