WILLY DIDN'T MENTION ADRIEN'S BEHAVIOR FROM THE NIGHT BEFORE. He didn't have to. The three additions to his personal guard⸺three strapping men in their middle ages who stuck far too close to Adrien against his personal comfort⸺spoke volumes of how much his brother trusted him to be on his own. But Adrien figured that Willy was only doing it to appease Commander Theo Magath. He'd learned not long after Lara fetched him from the courtyard that that had been the man who'd joined Willy on the balcony, bearing witness to Adrien's disrespectful display.
Willy informed him the next morning that his guard would quadruple in number, going from one to four, for his "protection" while in the city. What Willy had neglected to mention was that the new guards would be more meddlesome than even Kieran. The knight himself didn't seem any happier about the arrangement than Adrien. He didn't have a choice but to keep his complaints to himself. Adrien, on the other hand, would do no such thing.
After breakfast had concluded, Adrien had wandered back upstairs to his room to find some peace and quiet. But upon finding the new guards already waiting for him at his bedroom door, he'd bypassed the room completely and continued on until he had made a loop around the top floor of the house. The guards began following Adrien as soon as he had passed them by, the telltale sound of leather creaking making it painfully impossible to ignore their existence. The leather clad men trailed him through the hallways, down the stairs, and seemed as though they were planning to follow Adrien into the lavatory before he halted to a stop outside the door.
He'd spun quickly, planting his hands on either side of the doorframe and narrowing his eyes at the three men standing before him. The expression on the face of the man standing at the forefront of the group told Adrien that they didn't want to be there any more than Adrien wanted them there.
"Do you plan to watch me piss?" he'd hissed, his fingers digging into the wooden frame of the door as he tried to keep his voice level.
The man at the front responded by sighing and adjusting his belt. Adrien promptly shut the door behind him, pushing off the wall and letting the door slam into its frame with no remorse.
Out of the three bathrooms that existed within his family's city house, there was only one with an accessible window. Because it lacked a shower and a bathtub, the room was small. Against the left wall when you walk into the room was a sink that protruded too far into the middle of the room, a large, round mirror hooked onto the wall directly above it. The counter was an ornate marble design of white and gold accents. Off to its right was the toilet and across from that was a long cabinet that stretched from floor to ceiling. The window was located between the two, high up on the wall. It was the kind that you had to unlatch at the top before pushing outwards. The glass would swing up on the hinges and leave just enough room for someone of the right size to squeeze through the opening.
