You don't want them to intervene

"If you can get more of that magic dust for the twins, that will be your biggest protection," Valerie suggested.

"What do you care?"

"I'm here helping now aren't I? They're my coven too, even if I'm separated by my vampirism,"

Caroline walked into the mausoleum at that moment. " Your coven ? You're as crazy as the leader if you think the twins are going to go anywhere near the Gemini Coven,"

"Caroline, I've got this," Ric said before he turned to redhead. "Valerie, my kids aren't going anywhere near anything supernatural if I can help it,"

"You can't. Human, "

"Valerie is here trying to make amends for her crazy magic siphoning vampires. So let's just get on with it, the sooner this is done, the sooner you can get the twins to safety and the sooner I won't be pregnant anymore,"

"Lie down,"

Caroline and Elena both laid down on the stone slab in the Salvatore crypt. Caroline reached over and grabbed Elena's hand.

"I'm glad we're doing this together," she whispered. "Are you okay?"

She turned to meet sparkling blue eyes. "I'm fine,"

Elena squeezed her hand and then released it, closing her eyes as Valerie began chanting. The fluttering quickened for a moment before the movement halted completely.

"Oh my God!" Caroline shot up from her spot. "I can feel them!"

She smiled and grabbed Elena's hand. "Let's go to your baby shower," The lump in her throat swallowed the tears her brown eyes threatened to leak.

"Quickly," Valerie warned. "They're coming!"

Toni's POV

Toni was overwhelmed with information during the week she spent with Kol. There was a whole ass supernatural committee governing all the things that went bump in the night. It had a leader from each group of supernatural species that formed the Supernatural Lords. The Fae Lumierary, the Werewolf High Alpha, the Witch Regent, the Voodoo Queen, and the Vampire King. There was division among the group, with the faeries usually allying themselves with the werewolves, the witches with the voodoo conjurers. They all had tensions with the vampires but Kol supposed witches would be the closest allies of vampires, as the witch magic was what created vampires and werewolves were a natural enemy to vampires. The group would congregate once every five centuries at a meeting called The Summit, unless there was a topic of dire importance that needed to be deliberated or a supernatural trial.

Kol explained that his oldest living brother was on the board of committees, so to speak. Elijah Mikaelson was the spokesperson for all vampires, he was the Vampire King. Each faction governed themselves, with no intervention from the other factions, until each Summit, which was an opportunity to air out any tensions between groups, with the fae having the final say if agreements couldn't be made.

"And Elijah keeps all the vampires in check?" she asked one night as she was checking into her hotel room.

"In verity, no. There's hardly a need for that as most vampires keep their affairs amongst themselves unless they're plotting to take down an Original, Original Hybrid, or what have you," he explained.

Toni scoffed. "I'm on the wrong damn team if you can't even check your vampires," she muttered. "There's no code?"

"Let's see, shall we?" Kol said, rubbing his chin as if deep in thought. "Ahh, yes. The vampire code is, never cross an Original, kill or be killed, unless you're facing an Original, then you can either die or spend centuries hiding away in shame, like a charismatic doppelgänger my family has become acquainted with," he laughed merrily. "Does that paint a clear enough picture for you?"
