Harris POV
"No more for you kiddo." Artie sighed.
"Why? Just gimme one more." I sulked.
"You're drunk. I'll get you a cab." He laughed.
"Why? You're not my dad."
"You're right but you're basically my kid at this point so you're getting a cab."
I rolled my eyes, "You suck Artie."
I rested my head on the countertop in front of me, closing my eyes for a few seconds.
"Harris?"
I jolted up, recognising the voice instantly.
"Andouille?"
"What the fuck does that even mean." He laughed.
"It means idiot," I mumbled.
"Wait you two know each other?" Artie chimed in.
"Remember that girl I told you about? That's her brother." I pointed.
William furrowed his eyebrows, confused, "That girl? I thought you two were a thing already?"
"We're 'on a break' William," I said with air quotes.
He pinched the bridge of his nose, "Oh god, what happened?"
"Ask her."
"I wouldn't bother Will, she hasn't even told me." He half-smiled.
"Alright." He sighed.
I heard the two of them mumbling to each other but I really don't have the energy to listen.
I just placed my head back on the counter and closed my eyes again.
Maybe I'll take a nap.
"Wake up." William said, lightly slapping the back of my head, "I'm taking you home."
"I could have you arrested for that." I slurred, glaring at him.
"You won't. Come on, get in the car."
He dragged me to a familiar car parked in the car park.
"I see you stole Beckett's car again."
"Borrowed actually." He corrected.
Once I eventually managed to get in the car, he plugged his phone into the radio.
He's gotta be fucking joking.
"I Want to Know What Love Is? Seriously William?"
"Sorry." He sheepishly smiled, skipping the song.
When I Look Into Your Eyes by Firehouse started blaring out the speakers.
I glared at him.
"Sorry."
I Don't Want to Miss a Thing briefly started playing before William skipped it, laughing nervously.
"Just give me your bloody phone."
He hesitantly unlocked it and gave it to me.
I couldn't help but smile at his lock screen, it was a picture of him and Lorelai.
"I know, I'm so handsome aren't I." He grinned.
"God no." I laughed.
"Ouch."
"Don't feel too bad, you're more of a friend to me than anyone I know."
"I'm sorry what was that?" He asked with a knowing grin.
"Shut up and drive."
"Where are we actually going?"
"I don't care." I shrugged.
"Alright, my house it is then."
I ignored him, scrolling through his Spotify, eventually stopping on KISS's I Was Made For Lovin You.
"What a banger." Will grinned, tapping along on the steering wheel.
At some point during the song, William and I started screaming the lyrics out in the car.
I must be drunk.
We eventually pulled up to a small little house in a quiet neighbourhood.
"Alright, you have to be quiet because my dad is sleeping."
"Whatever."
I didn't process what he said until I was stood face to face with a middle-aged woman.
"Antoinette?"
"Mrs Beckett..." I painfully smiled.
"This is not how I imagined meeting the girl my daughter is in love with." She laughed.
I furrowed my eyebrows, "She's not in love with me."
They both started laughing at me.
Rather rude if I do say so myself.
"Whatever Harris." William grinned.
"You can sleep in Rory's old room I'm sure she wouldn't mind." Mrs Beckett smiled.
I stayed silent, still confused as to why I'm even here.
"I'll take her up."
I smiled at Mrs Beckett and followed William to Lorelai's room.
Just as he was about to shut the door I spoke, "William get your ass back in here."
"What is it?" He sighed.
"Why the fuck am I here?" I questioned, trying to be quiet so I didn't wake Mr Beckett.
"I asked you where we were going and you said you didn't care." He shrugged.
"I hate you." I glared.
"You had to meet the parents at some point." He smirked.
"Whatever."
"Bye Harris." He sang, closing the door and leaving me in peace.
In Lorelai's old bedroom...
Whilst I'm here I may as well snoop.
What? I'm a detective.
It looks like she's been here recently because there's some of her stuff from work here.
Ooo a sketchbook.
How could I resist?
There were a few drawings of dogs and some of her family.
But the most recent one was the one that caught my eye.
It was me?
How could I not have trusted her?
There's no way she would jeopardise an investigation I was stupid for thinking she'd go looking for Anna.
I made sure they didn't cross paths and yet every time Lorelai asked me if I knew anything I lied.
I told her I had nothing to do with the case.
Fully knowing I'm in charge of it.
Fuck this, I'm going to sleep.
