Chapter Fourteen

Chocolate Covered Strawberries

I woke up cradled in Yuki’s arms. I glanced at the clock beside my head.

“Holy crap! Wake up!” I shouted.

“Huh? What? What’s going on?” he mumbled.

“We’re going to be late for school,” I said jumping up. Deep down, I knew I was tired as hell and didn’t even want to go to school but it was Friday so there was no point in missing more school. I’m like a week behind as it is. “Yuki I said get up!” I threw a shoe at him but he barely flinched.

“Give me five minutes.”

“That’s what I always say and that turns into thirty minutes.”

“But I’m a guy. I don’t have hair to straighten or make-up to do. I practically wake-up and just walk out the door.”

“Ok fine. Do what you want but cover your head with a pillow or something; I need to get dressed.”

He did as he was told and I threw on whatever I thought looked good. I hurried to go wake Vicky but she wasn’t in the guest room. She was too busy raiding Yuki’s fridge.

“School in twenty minutes,” I shouted at her back.

“Yeah, whatever.”

I sprinted back up the stairs and grabbed my flat-iron and toothbrush. I was done in ten minutes but Yuki was still in bed.

“Get up and get dressed or I will dress you myself,” I said.

“Go ahead,” he said with his eyes closed.

“You and Vicky are both so hopeless,” I grumbled.

I jumped on the bed and bounced until Yuki groaned and got up.

“I don’t like this wake up call,” he complained while finally getting ready.

I left the room to give him some privacy and went to see if Vicky was ready. Miraculously, she was dressed and had her bag in hand.

“Can we go now?” she asked impatiently.

“Yuki are you done yet?” I yelled up the stairs.

“Stop nagging!” he shouted back. “It’s not attractive.”

He came down the stairs a few minutes later with his car keys in hand. We left the house and he stopped dead in his tracks.

“Shit,” he said.

“What?” I asked.

“My car was stolen last week.”

“Please tell me you’re joking,” Vicky said before I could.

“Sorry but it’s true. I got robbed too. The jerk took fifty bucks from me.”

“Told you we should’ve taken the car,” said Vicky. “But no mom bought it so we can’t take it.”

“Guess we’re walking,” said Yuki.

“Uh no. You two are walking. I’m gonna catch a ride on lover boy’s back,” said Vicky. She shoved her bag into my hands and hopped onto Yuki’s back. He shot me an apologetic look that said, “Sorry but I can’t throw her off. That would be mean.”

After fifteen minutes of walking and Vicky riding, we reached the school. The bell rang about five minutes ago but I would’ve bet that no ones gone to class yet.
