Chapter 11

I stood there, looking confused in every direction. Johnny was sitting on the bench, alone.

"Excuse me sir, but... Where is Alexander?", I asked trying not to make eye contact.

"...He left...", Johnny suddenly said.

"Why?", I asked confused and disappointed.

He gave me no response, he just sat there, staring at the field.

My eyes started to water as a million thoughts rushed through my head.
Why did he leave so suddenly without saying goodbye? Did Johnny do something? Did I do something? Was I not good enough for him?!

By now I was seriously tearing up as I sat there, still.

"Don't be disappointed...", Johnny said before slowly getting up and walking into the building.

I too got up, wiped away my tears and walked to the building. I entered and the director slowly approached me.

"You know, I've realised something...", he said looking at me with sympathy in his eyes.

"Every time you're outside alone with Johnny, you come back in and you looked like you cried... If he's hurting you, or bothering you... Stay away from him, its only for the best...", with that, he walked away.

I felt really guilty, how could the director think that of him? Johnny was a great man with a gentle approach.
It was all too much, I walked over to my dressing room and got dressed in my costume.

When I got out, everyone else was in their costumes as well, including Johnny. He looked a bit different, but overall, very good.

I walked over to where they were, ready to start filming.

It was the scene where Josephine was playing the piano with Peter.

I sat at the piano, rehearsing the lines in my head.

"No no no...", Alan said, playing Peter.

"Watch...", he said, playing the piano.

"You play beautifully...", I said in my best British accent.

"Thank you.", he said.

He got up and and started walking away.

"Peter, where are you going?", I asked him.

"I am leaving, know this Josephine... Keep practicing and you'll get better...", he said without making eye contact.

He then walked off the set.

"Cut!", the director yelled.

"Well done Alan, and Eleanor! Beautiful work.", he said walking away.

We now had a 2 hour break. I walked into my dressing room, grabbed my money and walked out.

I walked over to Helena.

"Hey Helena, do you want to grab some lunch?", I asked her, remembering Alexander this morning, asking me the same question.

"Sweetheart are you alright there, you're tearing up...", she said pulling me into a hug.

I didn't even realise it, but it was true... I was tearing up...

"Sorry, I just yawned...", I lied.

"Hmmm...", she said.

"Lets just go, I'm sure I'll be fine once I grab something to eat...", I said walking away.

She followed close behind. I kept walking quickly, she grabbed my shoulder...

"We need to talk...", she said.

"I'm hungry...", I complained.

I don't usually complain, I'm not use to it actually.

"That's fine, just quickly... Oh look, we can grab a sandwich in that shop!", she said tugging me, I followed.

While she ordered our sandwiches, I looked at the building from the window. I saw Johnny talking to the director. Seems like they're good friends.

"Here you go love.", Helena said, handing me a big sandwich.

"I can't eat all this...", I said looking up at her.

"It's fine, here... Slice it and we'll give Johnny the rest.", she said handing me a plastic knife.

"Ok...", I said slicing it with all my strength.

After we ate our lunch she decided to talk to me.

"Now... About Johnny.", she said looking at me.

"What's the matter?", she asked softly.

"What do you mean?", I asked.

"Why do you always come in after Johnny, crying?", she asked.

"It's not him though, it was Alexander...", I said, whispering at the end.

"Oh...", she said.

"Yeah, it's fine though...", I said looking down at the table.

"I guess... I just can't trust anyone...", I said before walking out the shop alone.
