JUNGKOOK POV

Jungkook took Jimin's's warning to heart.

As soon as they shifted Jiwoo's lion went on the attack but backed off just as quickly.

Jungkook guessed at his plan put him on edge with a handful of head-on attacks and trick him into exposing his flank.

Then Jiwoo would go for his back legs, hamstring him if he could.

That would be enough to severely hamper Jungkook's ability to move and facing an apex predator like Jiwoo, his biggest asset was his agility.

He wouldn't let Jiwoo take that from him.

He played along as Jiwoo attacked again, even letting the alpha get a swipe in with his claws drawing blood.

He heard gasps from the crowd but ignored them.

As wounds went, it was superficial but he could see Jiwoo's confidence growing.

The lion started maneuvering around and Jungkook knew he was making his move.

So he helped him out, leaving himself vulnerable to an attack from the side, pretending he was too distracted waiting for Jiwoo to come at him from the front.

All he needed was an opening and if Jiwoo fell into his trap, he would get just that.

They danced around each other, Jiwoo throwing in one more head-on attack for good measure, narrowly missing being grazed by Jungkook's antlers and then he feinted right, moved left and went straight for his back legs.

If Jungkook hadn't known exactly what Jiwoo was up to, it might have worked.

Jimin's whispered warning had told him all he needed to know.

He leaped into the air and swung around, slamming his antlers into Jiwoo's exposed flank.

The alpha bellowed loudly, a roar that shook the room but all his struggling did was impale him deeper on Jungkook's sharp horns.

Before the alpha could recover his senses enough to lash out, Jungkook yanked himself free and backed away.

He could see that he'd done significant damage to Jiwoo.

Blood flowed freely down his side, darkening his coat but the lion wasn't done yet.

He pushed himself upright, roared again and then raced straight at Jungkook.

Jungkook knew what he did next would look crazy to those watching—he shifted back to human form.

He heard shouts of dismay from the crowd as Jiwoo barreled down upon him but being smaller and more agile as a human, he was able to dive out of the way of the lion as Jiwoo careened past, unable to stop himself from slamming into the wall at the edge of the room.

Jungkook shifted back again, antlers at the ready as Jiwoo, dazed and furious, pushed back to his feet.

He set his sights on Jungkook and charged once more.

But he was all emotion and no strategy, something that had been trained out of Jungkook long ago.

All Jungkook had to do was angle his head and wait, catching the lion easily and tossing him across the room.

Jiwoo slammed into the ground and slid across the floor, leaving a trail of blood in his wake.

When he came to a stop, he stayed down.

He was still alive, his chest moving sluggishly up and down but there was no fight left in him. Not today.

Jungkook heard Jiwoo's pack yelling at him to get up but the alpha didn't move.

Jungkook was tempted to finish him off, it wouldn't take much but he glanced at Jimin and thought better of it.

Jiwoo had held Jimin captive for years and made him suffer.

Was it not justice that Jiwoo would now be the one imprisoned, the one forced to bend to someone else's rules?

He looked to the referee, who was checking his watch and eyeing Jiwoo uneasily.

When there was no sign of the alpha getting back up, he blew his whistle three times.

"Fight's over."

"The elk wins, the lion loses."

There was a flurry of shouting from Jiwoo's group and an omega broke away from them running toward Jiwoo.

He stopped before he reached him, set his sights on Jimin and charged.

Jungkook moved on instinct, blocking the omega's path looming over him as blood dripped from his antlers.

The omega went pale eyeing him with fear as he backed down, retreating to stand with the rest of his pack.

Only then did Jungkook shift back, taking the damp towel Joon offered him and wiping off the worst of the blood.

Most of it wasn't his.

"It's done." Namjoon said, handing over his clothes.

"Let's get the hell out of here."

"You'll get no argument from me." Jungkook said dressing hurriedly.

"Never again would be too soon."

He made a beeline for Jimin and Jungmin, taking the cub into his arms and hugging him tightly.

"He wasn't scared, was he?" he asked Jimin.

"We were both terrified."

"But I didn't let him watch."

"Good," Jungkook told him.

"The car's outside."

"Let's get out of here."

Jimin glanced past him to where Jimin's pack and two army medics were crowded around the lion's body.

"Is he...?"

"Still alive."

"He'll have plenty of time to mull over his mistakes while he lives out his life behind walls too high to see over."

He waited until Jimin tore his gaze away and then they followed Jin and Joon to the door.

"They're just going to let us leave?" Jimin sounded disbelieving, his gaze darting around to the soldiers standing guard.

"Pack law says they don't have a choice."

"I won, fair and square."

"I belong to you."

"You belong with me." he said gently, emphasizing the distinction.

"You and Jungmin are part of our pack now for good."

Jimin nodded slowly, letting Jungkook lead him out into the parking lot out front.

They climbed into the back behind Joon and Jin.

Jungkook helped Jimin buckle his seat belt and fastened Jungmin into his car seat.

"Rest if you can." he told him.

"There'll be plenty of time for talking later."

Jimin obediently closed his eyes and rested his head against the car door But he could see how tense the omega held himself.

It would take some time before they got back to where they had been.

Maybe they'd never get there, maybe they'd have to find a new normal. It didn't matter.

Jimin and Jungmin were safe, were coming home with him.

As long as he had that, they could work on the rest.
