He may not have liked the curly haired boy in the beginning, but eh. He's grown on him.
He finishes his apple and throws it into the bin from where he was standing. Calum felt pride shoot through him when it went in. But of course, when something even remotely successful happens to him, no one's there to see it. Just his stupid luck. Ugh what is his life?
He drags his feet across the carpet in the hallway on the way to his room, knowing that Ashton could hear it. Stuff like that really ticked Ashton off. And Calum wanted to let him know that he wasn't happy about talking to a stranger over the phone. I guess you could say it was Calum's pathetic way of retaliating.
He leaned against the doorway, looking around his room while waiting for Ashton to hand him the phone. Calum hated how everything was grey. His bed, walls, posters, floor, dresser. Everything.
Ashton finally acknowledged him and thrust the phone at Calum's chest. Calum just stared at it like it was an alien. “Go on, talk to Luke. You need to make more friends.” Ashton said to him.
Figuring Ashton was right, Calum held the phone up to his ear. “Hey, um, I'm Calum,” he greeted rather awkwardly.
“Hello! I'm Luke Hemmings!” Oh no, we've got a perky one here. No wonder Ashton's friends with this guy.
This is why Calum doesn't like interacting with people. Like, friends? Pfftt, who needs those? Not Calum. He's perfectly content on being alone with his music. Calum and Ashton wouldn't have even met, if it weren't for Ashton himself intervening.
Seeing as Calum wasn't going to respond anytime soon, Luke spoke up again. “How're you doing today, Calum? Ash said you were acting weird.”
Ashton just had to notice the one time when Calum wasn't 100% functional.
“Oh um no, I'm not acting weird today. I'm perfectly fine. This is how I usually act.”
“So you usually act like you saw a ghost?” Luke responded, and Calum could hear the smile in his voice.
“Am I acting like that? I never noticed. Oh well. Hey it was nice talking to you, byyyyye...” Calum trailed off, waiting for Luke to hang up.
He could hear chuckles on the other line. “You know, Calum, Ashton was right when he said you're really adorable.”
How would Ashton even bring that up in conversation? How is Calum adorable? He's not adorable, puppies are. Anyways, Calum knows that Ashton means that in a completely platonic way.
He glanced over at Ashton though, and the other boy simply raised his eyebrows. Oh he's really gonna get it later. Watch out buddy, Calum thought.
“Oh well t-thanks? I'm not a-adorable though. Ashton l-lies a lot,” Calum stuttered. Stuttered. Wow. That's a new low, even for Calum.
“Eh well I'm pretty sure Ashton wasn't lying about this though.” Damn. This Luke guy is confident.
Calum was panicking now. He didn't know what to say.
“Ihavetogonowbyyyyyye,” was all he managed to get out before calmly handing the phone back to Ashton and rushing out of there.
